Chapter Nine Pt. 2

It was late in the afternoon when Palo finally appeared at her place. She packed about a suitcase worth of her belongings as she didn't think she'd be gone for long.

"That's everything?" Palo asked as he reached for the handle of her suitcase; his muscles flexed as he effortlessly lifted it with one hand. Eva thought he was doing it on purpose, the suitcase had perfectly rolling wheels and it didn't need to be carried.

"Yes."

"Alright good." Palo hastily replied as he took long strides toward her front door. When he noticed she wasn't following suit he stopped in his tracks.

"Are you coming?"

"Y-yeah."

Eva was reasonably nervous. Palo and her relationship was strained enough and now she was expected to willingly live with him for an undetermined amount of time.

She cautiously followed about a step behind Palo as he lead the way out of her quaint apartment.

"Can you stop doing that." Palo suddenly demanded, peeking at her from above his wide shoulders.

"Stop what?" Eva asked, avoiding his eye contact and tucking a stray piece of hair behind her ear.

"Acting so timid, you and I are very familiar with one another, no?" After stating this he released a deep chuckle, the insinuation was clear in his tone. No man knew Eva, let alone, her body the way Palo did. He possessed her in every way.

She didn't reply, she didn't want to stroke this man's ego in regards to her.

In no time Eva and Palo were outside of her apartment complex. A red four-door jeep with dark tinted windows was parked directly in front of her complex and behind it was the same black sedan she'd been panicking over all morning. Vincent was leaning against it with a cigarette firmly placed between his lips.

"Hello Eva," He greeted easily whilst releasing a cloud of smoke, "sorry if I frightened you....I saw you watching me through your window."

"He's assigned to protect you when I'm not available." Palo informed her, he popped the trunk of the jeep and placed her suitcase inside of it.

"You could have told me that before." Eva said, rolling her eyes at Palo.

"I didn't think it was important."

Vincent threw his cigarette down on the concrete and put it out with his shoe.

"Ready?" He asked Palo and Palo just nodded his head. She didn't get to see Vincent hop into his black sedan because Palo was already escorting her to the passenger side of the jeep. She'd never seen this particular car before, but then again Palo changed cars frequently. He had the money to do it.

His hand was placed innocently on her lower back as he lead her into the car, but even so that small touch made her stomach clench with need. She couldn't help but be attracted to the man, no matter how he treated her the chemistry between them never dwelled. She blamed god for making him so damn irresistible.
