DOCTOR BIEBER | twenty-five.

S.

"How can I help you? I don't want to see you this way," he spoke softly. He caressed my face softly rubbing the pad of his thumb against my cheek. I avoided eye contact and looked straight behind him.

"I thought I was better. I'm sorry," I spoke apologetically. "I know this is annoying and that--"

"--You don't have to apologize. I just want to help you get better."

"God, I'm a mess," I covered my face then laid on my back in the bed.

"Do you want to go out? Or we can stay in? Whatever you want," he said mimicking my actions then laid down next to me.

"You have work."

"I can call in sick."

"There are people who actually are sick who need you. It's okay, I'm probably just going to go out by myself. I have a few errands to run anyways. We can have lunch if you're free," I suggested.

We laid next to each other staring up at the ceiling as a short period of silence consumed us. We weren't touching each other either, we had a small space between us.

"How did we get here?" he rasped breaking the silence.

"Well, we woke up and then you started getting ready for work then--"

"Not here here," he chuckled softly, "but our lives. How did we go from being happy to just," he paused then said, "bleh," making me laugh.

"We're bleh, now?" I giggled.

"Yeah," he chuckled. "I don't know why we're laughing. That's not good," he shook his head. "We're bleh!"

"It makes sense because I feel like bleh," I sighed.

"What errands do you need to run?" he referred to what I said earlier.

"Just some stuff for work."

I felt annoyed just talking about it.

"How's that going?" he asked me.

"I think I'm going to quit," I tilted my head slightly.

"Why? I thought you didn't completely hate it."

"I thought so too, but I do hate it. I don't know what I'm doing," I sighed. "It's so hard. No one takes me seriously. Maybe I should try to look older," I contemplated.

"I don't think you should change how you look just for some people at work. You're perfect."

"I wouldn't do anything drastic, but maybe I should start dressing more professionally, maybe change my hair a bit," I said touching the ends of my hair. "I need to call Val," I said sitting up quickly and crawling off the bed.

"No, stay in bed," Justin groaned.

"You have work which you're going to be late for," I reminded him.

I clicked Val's contact then put my phone against my ear. I hummed a random song as the phone rang.

"Hey Sienna," she spoke happily.
