This theme was war and oh so many wars and attacks have happened and are happening. The war on banning guns in America to save so many children's lives. Physical and verbal attacks that happen everyday. Whether it's mere bullying or what happens in Syria. Wars that happen in the mind and has led to many young lives deaths. Here are poems from different perspectives, shedding light onto the topic of wars.

Title: Warzone

A field irrigated by blood
Can be found there where no one now goes
The place where nothing grows Yet the river of red still flows.
A sea of broken bones and ashen corpses still lay
Along with those dejected weapons
That never got to expel a bullet Belonging to those who may or may not have gone to heaven.
If you listen closely
You would be able to hear
The child who cries for his father, praying he comes back home
The one who witnesses every sunrise, since he lays awake every night in fear.
You might also hear a wife's hollow promises
To her son will soon have the same fate
And she will hide away in kitchen So he does not see her cry in those anguished sobs that make her suffocate.
Back at the field You might encounter a photograph of them
Their faces barely decipherable under that burn mark
You might just want to take it back to them
And let them know that their lives will forever remain dark. But how can you?
It's not just that single broken family its everyones...

Comment: A well done and polished poem. I think you did a great job of conveying the emotion and effects of war. The heartbreak and the undeniable truth that the pain of war has ripple effect.

Inside my eyes lies a reflection

A story that in me, has bore
A story not written with ink but with pain, suffering and gore
My voice lay dormant, my tongue still lost
A story I shall not tell for anyone but you
A story that I have lived
He was nineteen years old
Cocky, tall and smart
I watched as his knees buckled
The bullet straight through his heart
I watched as his eyes began to roam
His tongue lost, his eyes offering his pleas
But I could only comfort him in his time of need
Nineteen years slipped through my hands
A burning rage inside my heart
Yet I could not bring myself to take away the man who caused it all to start
I often wonder about him, whether he thinks of the boy
The boy with sandy brown hair, only nineteen years young
A boy who's song my heart has so sorrowfully sung ....

Comment: I liked the perspective of this poem. It captured the rawness and emotions. The moment of death that happens everyday. And great analogy at the end.

people always tell you that your problem is temporary.
but what about everlasting trauma?
what about sicknesses that consumes me?
i fight with myself trying to let go,to have the courage to end everything and die.
to take control of my mind and do what must be done
the only way to stop the urge to hurt others, is to die.
but i can't.
everytime i become closer to doing it, i lose all feelings, even the anger.
i become a numb, useless corps with no ending.
just relieve me of the fear i have of my own mind.
just make it stop, i beg of you

Comment: I was waiting for a poem where it was man vs. self and you did it so perfectly! I think you did a really good job of someone having a war within their mind. Their heart wrenching thoughts and the chaotic issue of dying. One of the most brutal fights a person will ever go through, is the one that is in their head.

And to my Honorable mention for going above and beyond, thank you ❤
