A lot of the times I write poems about what happens around the world or simple injustices. All I want you to do is write an opinion based poem about an recent issue or current event. For example it could be about mass shootings, suicide, depression, women equality, gay rights. Just something about a global issue. Not your own personal issue, but a wide issue that many people go through. I mean of course if you go through depression, which is a global issue then yes that's fine to talk about yourself. But I don't want to hear about how you lost dog you had known for 10 years. No offense, but I'm talking about an IMPORTANT issue!

This is a great chance to show your creativity and to really show your passion. Use imagery, make me feel the emotions that you feel when you think about this issue.

Here is an example of me shedding a light on my perspective of the wars and how it is bad.

From: 10 year old boy

It's a dream, I'm imagining things

That missiles are flying over my head
Families seeing their loved ones dead

Tears pouring down their face, war is such a disgrace

A round black object flies in the sky
Exploding and everyone dies

In my dream, my family was there
I didn't have enough time to make it up the stairs

To tell them "There's a bomb!"
Now they're all gone

I'm trying to open my eyes to wake up from the dream, but my eyes are already opened its reality

The tears are mine, the screams are mine, the pain, it's all mine

The love is gone, the warmth is gone
Now I'm a 10 year old boy all alone

My parents were civilians in a war
They didn't ask to be part of this ghore

I've lost men, you've lost men
It's all the same at the end

Innoncent people's lives don't need to be harmed, please
Put down your arms

What's there to gain, if at the end we're all dead
I can't close my eyes to go to bed

Memories of blood hurdling screams and people down on their knees

The image of chaos is displayed when bombs fall out of airplanes

You're running for your life, taking long hard strides, praying to god to help you in his sight

This is what I have to deal with everyday, I need help, but now you're going to push me away

Pray for Syria

In this poem I conveyed the importance of the issue that goes in Syria by taking it of a perspective of a boy that lives there. It doesn't always have to be first person but I chose that. I put my opinion in there by saying "Innocent lives do not need to be harmed, please put down your arms."

I am getting poems that show the issue but are not telling me their opinion. Like is it okay that she cute her wrists call it out how it is an injustice!

Hope my example helped, please comment any questions you have. If too many do not get it or send poems like how I do not want it to be then I will just change it to a simpler one. Thought this would be a fun and exciting theme.
