my parents' homophobia is laughable sometimes
i was talking to my mum about something, to which she called me a funny little boy. then she looked at me and said, "you do realise that your father thinks you're turning into a boy and that when you grow up you'll be one of those gay butch people. you understand that, right?" i started laughing and then she said: "well, if you will turn out to be those gay butches then do tell me so i can send you off to America and you won't have to come back so that you don't ruin me. i don't mean, it would be preferable if you weren't, but do tell me if you are so that i can send you to America. don't need anyone to bring down the family."
i couldn't do anything except laugh and say "okay then.."
she said it in such a casual way. it was kind of ridiculous. but it also kind of hurt.
