Chapter 6

I was in the car with Happy. We just got done shopping and are on our way back to the compound

"Hey Happy"

"Yea"

" Did you know about my parents. About them faking their death?" I asked. I saw him look in the rear-view mirror at me

" Not at first. Tony decided to tell me a few years ago"

There was an awkward silence

" I read the letters. That he and my parents wrote to each other. It's just..." I paused trying to get my thoughts together

" Why wouldn't they think... if someone is after you why wouldn't you take your child with you. It's sickening. When I was in my cell reading those letters I kept thinking.... what did I do to make them forget about me? Am I that much of a failure that they thought about leaving me?" I felt a tear run down my face and I quickly wiped it

" You're not a failure Y/N. You're anything but that. I don't know why they didn't take you with them. They probably knew you would have a better life with Tony. I would wait till you talk to him so you can find the truth" His phone rang. He glanced at it and groaned

" What's wrong?" I ask

"Just the kid texting me" I blush at the thought of Peter. I look down at my lap hoping Happy didn't see me

" What was that?" He asked

" What was what?"

" You're blushing"

" No I'm not"

" Y/N"

" Happy" 

He chuckles

" I know you have a crush on the kid. Tony said you kept staring at him when you two met"

I looked at him with wide eyes

" I do not have a crush on him"

" Uh huh. Sure"

" I don't!" I said as my voice gets high. That happens when I lie

Happy looked in the mirror again and smirked

" Your voice got high"

" No it didn't" I mumble

We pulled up at the compound and I got out. I was about to grab my bags when Happy stopped me

" Don't worry about it. Go talk to Tony. I'll put these in your room"

" Thanks Hap"I said as I made my way to the compound. I saw Pepper walking out as I was walking in

" Hey Pepper. Have you seen Tony?"

" No I haven't seen him. Sorry"

" It's okay" I said to her as we parted ways

" FRIDAY can you tell me where Tony is?"

" He's in your room Miss Y/N"

" My room?"

I slowly made my way to my room and I noticed the door was open. It was never open. I walked in and saw that Happy brought my bags in there. There were right near my closet. I looked over at the window and saw that Tony was sitting in my chair that I have in my room. He was looking at my photo album that we made when I was little

" What are you doing in here?" I ask him in a whisper

He didn't look up at me when he spoke " Preparing myself to tell you the truth"

I slowly sat down on my bed

" Your mother wasn't born in Wakanda but she was raised there. One of the royal families took her in and raised her as their own. She was supposed to marry a prince her father chose for her but she met your father and they fell in love...." He looked at me

" But once your grandfather found out he wanted your father killed. Of course your mother didn't want that to happen so she and your father left and came to New York. I bumped into your father and that's how our friendship started. Your parents got married as soon as they settled down. Once they found out they were pregnant with you they immediately asked if I would be your godfather. The day you were born....it was the happiest day of our lives. We found out you were special the day you were born. Your eyes were a bright yellow as soon as your mother held you for the first time. She found a book that explained all of your powers . But when they died I wanted to find a way for you to live a normal life without having to go out of control so I did my own research..... I knew that they only cared about themselves....but I didn't think they would abandon their only child. " He paused. I could see him start to tear up

" I didn't know that they were alive until you were 13"

" Did you ever try to see them?" I ask as my voice breaks

He shook his head " If I did I would probably punch your father in the face" we chuckled

" I don't blame you Tony..." I start to say

" You did what you had to do to protect me. Just wish you would have given me a heads up before dropping some news like that"

We both laughed

" Boss you have an incoming call" we heard FRIDAY say

" Alright" Tony says as he stands up and walks over to me

" I really am sorry Y/N. I should have told you as soon as I found out. I just didn't know how you would react-" I cut him off by hugging him

" It's okay Tony. I understand" I feel him hug me back

" I'm sorry for being rebellious and help Cap"

He lets go

" I know you are.....but you're still going to school" I groan

" Oh come on can't you just take away my car or something"

" Oh I have. I took your keys before you got back" I groan again and he laughs

" I thought you would be happy since you get to spend your time with the kid"

" Why would I want to?"

" Because you like him"

" I do not!" my voice goes high again

" Yes you do" he says as he walks out my room

" You start school in the morning" he says as he walks out of my room

" Do I have to go tomorrow!" I yell at him

" Yes!" I hear him yell back

I roll my eyes as I walk over to my closet

" Look on the bright side...." I hear a voice say and I turn around to see it was Nat standing in the doorway

" At least you get to see your little boyfriend" she teases

" He's not my boyfriend. And he's younger than me AND we know nothing about each other"

" You're two years apart and so. He knows who you are and you two might get to spend some time together"

" You're right" I mumble

She chuckles " I always am" she says as she walks out of my room

" I have to get ready for school tomorrow" I say to myself

" Never thought I would actually be going to high school"
