Thomas Shelby walked past the bakery that caused him so much pain when he was thirteen.

He'd ran in, expecting to see the joyful faces of Daryl and Cassandra Silver but instead he saw Mary.

"Sorry, my dear, you've just miss them" she'd spoke, walking out in front of the boy, her hand resting on his shoulder.

"What? What do you mean, is Riv not coming out today?"

The innocence that sentence held was something spectacular and it hurt Mary's heart when she looked upon his worried face.

"The Silver's have gone away for a little while, I'm sure River will write to you and tell you what happened." But all Tommy could do was frown, shaking his head at the older lady.

"But she can't write."

But now, as he passed, he let his gaze ripple from the dirty Birmingham streets and into the small bakery, hoping to see the man he used to call a second father sitting there.

And there he was, his lips parted as smoke left them, his knuckles a little bloodied but the same man from all those years ago.

"Mr Silver." He spoke with authority as he pushed the door to the bakery open, the sound of his voice causing shivers to run down the older man knowing that the young boy Tommy once was, was not there anymore.

"Ah, Thomas Shelby." Daryl spoke, a small smirk gracing his lips, "And what do I owe the pleasure?"

Tommy took a seat in front of the man, pulling a cigarette out of its packet, lighting it with a match before settling down in it properly.

"I understand you're in need of protection." He started, glancing out of the bakery window as he did so. River wouldn't be up for another few hours. Not with the amount of blood loss.

"Ah, and who told you that Thomas?" The older man rasped, his hand gliding through his hair to push it out of his face.

Tommy stared out of the shop for a few more moments before turning to the man, taking a drag of his cigarette.

"And I also know you're being threatened by Kimber."

The bakery became silent, the only sound coming from Mary who had placed a song on the gramophone, her soft humming lacing in with it.

"Have you seen my daughter?" Daryl countered back, the feeling of being uncomfortable being too much for the man.

"Mr Silver, I believe-"

"She's missed ya' Tom-"

"Daryl, i understand Kimber has asked you to do his dirty work to rid of your threats from him however if you agree to help me kill Kimber, I will protect you and your family from any sort of threats to come."
