"So Abigail, where you from?" Bob's dad asked, he was a surprisingly intimidating for who his son is

It'd been a couple months since the accident and Bob was much better and his parents finally came down to visit

"Oh come on Jackson, the poor girl didn't come here to get interrogated" His mother scolded lightly

"It's fine Mrs Floyd" Abigail smiled "Texas, Dallas specifically" She answered

"You support the cowboys?" Jackson asked

"I don't follow football, I support the rangers though"

"Ah more a baseball fan I see"

"Yeah, I played little league as a kid, was horrible at it" Abigail joked

"It's bold of Bobby to introduce us so soon, he's usually much more secretive" Jackson said

"Well there were some unusual circumstances around this wasn't there" Bob spoke up

"I swear this is why he refuses to introduce any girl he's interested in, you scared them" His mother complained

"Really, it's okay Mrs Floyd, this is nothing compared to the grilling Bobby will get" Abigail assured

"Whatever happened to that other girl? The actual navy girl? Natalie? Was that her name?" Jackson followed up

"Jackson!" "Dad!" Bob and his mother protested at the same time

"What? I just thought you may have you know had an interest in her, you know you're pilots, you've got more in common an' all that" Jackson defended

"Natasha is pilot and I don't date my front seaters as a rule, also I have plenty in common with Abbs and I'd never think of dating Phoenix, that just feels werid to even think about" Bob argued

"Hell Nat is the one that pushed me to even tell her"

"Language Robert" His mum chide lightly

"It's hell mama, we're all adults here and I'm capable of saying much wore"

"Don't think I've ever heard you swear actually" Abigail said

"I don't see the need to, Fanboy swears enough for half the team"

"And Nat the other half" She joked

"You're a lawyer right?" Jackson asked

"Yes sir, Military law, I specialise in Navy regulation though" Abigail answered

"Not your usual type of woman Bobby"

"I'm going to go the bathroom, excuse me" Abigail said quietly standing up leaving the table

"This is why I don't introduced you to girls when we start dating" Bob sighed standing up

The single stall bathroom was empty so Bob slipped out of the restaurant to his car

Abigail was sat in the back of the bed of the truck, a cigarette in her hand "that'll kill you" Bob said

"I'm aware" she said simply as she put the cigarette to her mouth again

"They hate me"

"They don't hate you" Bob said gently

"Your Dad hates me" Abigail corrected

"You're just different from who I use to date"

"Who did you use to date?" She asked

Bob shrugged sitting next to her "I weirdly had a thing for vets" he chuckled

Abigail laughed slightly

"I dated small town girls" he told her

"I am from a small town"

"My Dad doesn't see anywhere in Texas as small" Bob shrugged

"They knew all girls I dated parents, they knew what college they went to, you know friends of friends of friends of family friends, those type of girls, you're just different and he thinks it's werid" he explained

"You'll grow on them I promise and even if they don't like you, I do" Bob's arm went around her shoulders hugging her

Abigail leaned into the hug Bob grabbed the cigarette from her hand snuffing it out

"Oh, you jerk!" She laughed "I'm making sure you're stuck with me for a long, long time" he answered

The two entered the restaurant again, Bob's hand gripped Abigail's under the table, a gentle reminder that he was next to her
