*Zach's POV*

I opened my eyes as I felt myself doze off. I reached up and began rubbing my eyes. God I'm so tired. I lifted my head from the edge of the bed. My eyes stared up at Rachel's limp body. She still hasn't woken up yet.

My head pounded and I suppressed a groan. I ran my hand through my thick, greasy hair. I haven't showered, eaten, or slept in days. Or is it weeks? I don't even know.

I heard a loud growl erupt throughout the room. My head jerked up and I looked around the room only to see no one there. I heard the growl again but along with it came a vibration from my stomach. That's when I realized that it was my stomach and how hungry I was.

I clutched it and slouched before leaning my head on the edge of the bed. I was about to drift again, but the door opened and someone came in. I didn't even bother looking up to see who it was because I didn't give a shit about it.

I felt them gently place their hand on my shoulder. They lightly started rubbing it. "Hey." they whispered.

It was Evelyn. I could tell from the voice that it was her. I still didn't look at her and closed my eyes tightly.

"You should really get something to eat. It's been 3 weeks and you haven't eaten so much as a crumb." She scolded me. I knew she was right to a certain extent, but since I'm a werewolf, I can survive without food for quite a while.

I just grunted in response. I heard her groan in frustration. She grabbed my face and forced me to look at her. "Zach," she started. "you need to know that she is going to be just fine. You need to relax a bit. Look, I'm worried just as much as you are, but I don't mope around and sulk like you. I know she's your mate, your other half, your yin to your yang, your whipped cream for your waffles. I know its hard for you. It's hard for me too. She's my best friend and I would die if she didn't make it. All I'm saying is that you need to eat and take care of yourself. You're practically killing yourself."

Her voice cracked at the very last sentence. I saw a tear roll down her cheek. Seeing her eyes tear up caused my eyes to start watering. She rubbed my cheeks with the pads of her thumbs. "It's okay for you to be sad, but you need to suck it up. She'll most likely wake up quicker if you have your mind set on something else.

I let out a low growl. "I can't take my mind off of my very own mate. What if she wakes up and I'm not here to see her. I want to be the first person she sees when she wakes up."

She let out another sigh. She pecked my cheek before standing up. "At least think about getting food. The food from the cafeteria actually isn't that bad." That was the last thing she said before leaving the room.

Once the door closed behind her, the room became dark again. The only light in the room was the tiny bit of light that shone through the blinds in front of the window. I slumped back into the position I was in before Evelyn came in.

My mind kept racing over the things Evelyn told me. My stomach rumbled again. I stifled a groan before standing up. I suddenly became dizzy from the sudden movement. I rubbed my temples and squeezed my eyes shut.

After recovering from the dizziness, I fixed my gaze on Rachel. I stepped closer to the bed and picked up her cold hand in mine.

"Please wake up soon, baby. I miss you so, so much. If you never wake up, I don't know what I would do. You mean the world to me and if anything ever happened to you, I don't know how I would life with myself. I really need you to wake up. I feel like this is my fault."

A tear rolled down my cheek and dripped onto her hand. I took a deep breath before pivoting on my foot to leave the room. Right when I was about to let go of her hand, I felt her fingers tighten around mine.
