After all we've been through, I truly thought
I knew you.
Was it a lie you lead me to believe?
Did I miss the warning signs that pointed towards what I couldn't see?
Were we just playing make believe?
I have so many questions,
and so many of those questions
you choose to ignore.
But I'll learn once more,
next time I won't be so sure.
When I put my heart on the line
thinking I truly know a person —
Next time I guarantee,
I won't believe what I see.
It's a sad thing to say
and a terrible idea to think
but maybe it's for the best
that I just don't believe the rest.
