The next day had been...interesting.

Okay yeah, they totally fell asleep together watching movies.

But anyways, a week plus a few days later, it was Wednesday. Y/n was over at America's house.

"America please don't,"

"I'm sorry, Angel, I don't have a choice,"

"America please-!"

America grins and puts a draw four down on the pile. "Uno,"

Right, he had also started calling her Angel.

Y/n groans and puts her cards down on the table in defeat.

"Okay, I give up," She mutters.

"Aww, already?" America chuckles.

"We have played six games of you winning," Y/n retorts. "Yes. I'm giving up,"

He rolls his eyes and shows his last card, which was a wild card.

"Goddammit Stars,"

America laughs again. "It's just luck, Angel,"

"I think you're cheating,"

"I'm not though,"

Y/n narrows her eyes. "Sure..."

"Will you stop being mad at me if I make dinner?" America leans forward, head propped up on his elbows, and gives her puppy dog eyes.

She does the same thing, minus the eyes part. "Maybeee,"

He smiles in amusement.

"What?" Y/n asks. "I'm very food-motivated,"

America laughs, then leans forward a bit more to kiss her on the cheek.

"I noticed," He says.

She sticks her tongue out at him and watches as he leaves the room. Y/n eventually goes in to help him, even though he protested.

"I can do it," America tells her.

"I can help you do it," Y/n retorts.

He sends her a playful glare before going back to cutting vegetables. Y/n turns around for just a second, but she almost immediately swings back around when she hears America yelp. He shakes his hand a bit, wincing.

"Did you cut yourself?"

"N-No!"

She walks over and takes his hand.

"You're bleeding,"

"No I'm not," America grumbles.

Even though the cut was small, she could see tears pricking in his eyes.

"You've fought in two world wars and you're crying about a little cut?" Y/n teases.

"Shut up!" He snaps.

She gets a first aid kit and walks back into the kitchen. "Alright let me see,"

America holds his hand out to her again. Y/n gently bandages it up. She can tell that he's trying not to wince.

"Hurry up..." He mumbles.

"Stop fidgeting then," She retorts.

"Sorry..." America says. "It just hurts,"

"It's fine," Y/n tells him. She finishes bandaging his hand, then pulls it up and kisses the back, making the country's face turn a bit red.

"Thank you," He tells her.

"You're welcome," She says. "But maybe we should just order a pizza,"

"Agreed," America laughs. His arms move to pulls her into a hug. "And I'm still sorry for snapping,"

"It's okay," Y/n wraps her arms around his waist and looks up at him. "I'll forgive you because you're tall and handsome,"

"I'm sorry, I didn't hear that last part," The country grins and stares at her expectantly.

"Get your hearing checked then," She leans up and kisses his cheek.

America chuckles and nuzzles his face into the crook of her neck. Instead of either of them pulling away, they just stand in place. Swaying to nonexistent music.

Y/n felt relaxed around him. It was like America just made everything bad in the world vanish, even for just a moment. As energetic as he could be, he could also be surprisingly calm.

He had also gradually stopped wearing his sunglasses when they were alone. Y/n liked seeing his actual eyes, she thought they were pretty, even if he thought otherwise.

"Can we get Domino's?" America mutters at last.

Well, there goes the moment.

"Yes," She giggles. "We can get Domino's. But only if it's cheese pizza,"

"Why no toppings tho?" He says in a playfully whiny voice.

"You can get half with toppings ya goof, " Y/n tells him, pulling away just a bit to cup his face in her hands. "And also, I'm a simple person,"

"You're not just simple," America retorts. "You're pretty and smart and-"

"Americaaaa," She blushes harshly and tries to cut him off. When Y/n pushes away from him, he just tightens his grip.

"And sweet and cute and...."

Y/n buries her face into his shoulder in an attempt to hide her blushing. He continues listing things that she can't bring herself to believe, and laughs after several words.

"Aww, little Angel's blushinggg,"

"I hate you,"

America kisses the top of her head. "I love you too,"
