~Several weeks later~

Y/n was allowed to go home after about a week and a half longer. She was afraid to be left home alone, but America did his best to work from home as much as possible. At the very least, one of their friends would stay over with her if he had no choice but to leave for a meeting or whatnot.

She was completely healed physically, but she was still emotionally fragile. Y/n often woke up with nightmares. Some were worse than others, where she would wake up sweating and trembling. But most times she woke up more calmly and ended up leaving the bedroom to cry so that she wouldn't wake up America.

America was still trying to get her to see a therapist.

One evening, Y/n is sitting on the couch in the living room. America had excused himself to take a phone call. She figures it's just for work and that he'll end up leaving again.

But instead, he walks back in with a smile on his face.

"Work?" She asks out of curiosity.

"Nope," America remarks, leaning over the back of the couch and kissing the top of her head. He seemed a lot happier than usual.

"What?" Y/n giggles.

"Put your shoes on," He says. "I wanna take you somewhere,"

"Wait what-"

"Don't argue," America says playfully. "Come on. We're going on a date,"

Y/n doesn't protest again. She gets her coat and shoes and follows him quickly out the door. Wherever they were going, America seemed eager to get there.

They get into the car and start driving. Y/n asks about where exactly they're going numerous times, but he never tells her, he only smiles.

After almost thirty minutes of driving, they finally stop near a forest. Y/n gets out, only to have her hand grabbed by America.

"Hurry!" He says happily.

"Slow down!" She laughs as he drags her into the woods.

America stops and lets her climb onto his back before continuing onward.

"Where are we going?" Y/n asks again.

"Somewhere special," He tells her. "Just a little further. Close your eyes,"

She does as she's told, burying her face into his shoulder for convenience. They walk for a little longer until America finally slows down and stops.

"Okay, keep your eyes closed," He says, letting her slide off of his back and onto the ground. America takes her hand and leads her just a bit further.

"Don't let me trip," She says.

"I won't," He replies. "Actually, you can open your eyes,"

Y/n hesitantly does so. When her vision returns, she gasps.

In the fading sunlight, she can see a large field of flowers stretching out in front of them. Just before the flowers was a patch of grass. And on that grass was a picnic blanket and basket.

Y/n can feel happy tears pricking in her eyes.

"Stars..." She says quietly, her voice cracking a bit. "This is..."

"Come on," America pulls her towards the blanket. They both sit down before he realizes that she's crying. "Angel are you okay?"

"I love you so much..." Y/n hiccups.
