"NO! Stop it! Leave him alone!" She thrashed in their hands, the other preparing a portal. "Whatever you do, don't HURT HIM."

"Stay with us then," the one grasping her shoulders hissed, "and no harm shall come to him."

"I-I promise. Just please, leave him alone." She sobbed, the one conjuring the portal closing it, and the two led her back to her room.

They said in unison, "Time to have some fun, pet."

Maya sang as she chopped down another jungle tree. "Just like a moth drawn to a flame...
Oh you lured me in I couldn't sense the pain," the rhythmic chopping of the axe acting as the beat.

She heard the sounds of fireworks overhead, and she glanced up to see a man in a business suit clumsily land next to her.

"Howdy, Mumbo! What brings you by?"

"Just checking in on you. How're ya settling in?" Mumbo ran his hands through his wind-swept hair, positioning the strands in their proper places.

Maya smiled and leaned her axe against a tree. "Going well. I'm just clearin' out some space for my base... aaaaaand, that just rhymed." She laughed.

Mumbo chuckled. "What's your base going to be?"

Maya responded, "A treehouse village! I'm going to use the natural jungle trees, but spice them up a bit. How's your mayoral campaign going?"

Mumbo smirked. "We built a robot today! His name is Grumbot. He's the Plan."

"Uh, how's he the Plan?"

Mumbo fiddled with his mustache. "Well, the posters are more or less the Plan, but Grum is also kinda part Plan..." He rambled off, Maya having to stand on her tiptoes to tap his shoulder. "Oh, deary me! I'm sorry, Maya. I didn't mean to talk your ears off."

"Don't worry 'bout it, Mumbo." Maya pulled out a couple shulker boxes (a present from Scar) to deposit the wood into.

"Actually," Mumbo continued, "the reason I'm here is to tell you that if you ever need redstone help, and since I live just around the corner, just holler if you need any help."

"Well I'll remember that, but when it comes to redstone, I know some basics; just enough to get by." Maya picked the boxes back up and placed them in her inventory. Then, she noticed the durability of her diamond axe. "Notch dang it, my axe is almost dead. Good thing Keralis stopped by earlier. He dropped me off a mending book."

"I can show you the enderman grinder if you want," Mumbo suggested.

"That would be great!" Maya grabbed a few of her belongings from the hobbit hole and followed Mumbo into the Nether hub.

~

She swore she could hear voices, and those voices were getting closer by the day.

"Maya, you there?" A fish wearing a crown waved a hand in front of her face.

"Oh, w-what? Oh, sorry Brad. Just zoned out a bit."

"I'll say." Brad returned to his work. "If I place the redstone here... that won't work."

"Yeah it will. It's just the reverse of a normal setup." Maya ran around the back of the half-finished sugarcane farm and demonstrated what she meant.

"Oh, I see it now. 'Cause the observe will still power it through the block."

"Now you're getting the hang of it! To be honest, I am proficient in most redstone farms, and sugarcane or bamboo are the easiest, so just call me again if you ever need help." Maya equipped her elytra. "I gotta run. Mind if we catch up later? Gotta restock Simple Machines."

As she flew away, the King of Cod yelled after her, "Yeah, because you haven't restocked in over a week!"

~

"Thanks for showing me the eman grinder, Mumbo."

"No problem, Maya."

"I think I'm gonna wander around the nether hub a bit, and maybe pop into people's bases. And we can meet up at Grum later and you can explain your campaign in further detail." Mumbo had recruited Maya onto the mayoral team while they were at the grinder.

"Well I'll see you then. Happy wandering!"

"Happy... spooning." Maya stuck out her tongue at Mumbo. 'His expression was priceless,' she laughed to herself as she hoped in the nearest portal.

When she appeared on the other side, the rain was coming down. Maya laughed and ran for the nearest building: a fantasy-themed house with a magenta roof and white walls. (10 Watcher Points if you know who's base it is) She knocked on the door. No response. "I bet the owner wouldn't mind if I stepped inside to wait out this beautiful storm." Thunder rumbled the earth, making Maya giggle. "I knew you'd like that, Friend." She turned the handle and stepped inside.
