Marco took care of the situation. He told the cops the whole story. He also found the recorder lying on the highway. It might have slipped when Cassie was carried out of the car. The recorder was still turned on and it captured everything that Miguel confessed, including their struggle inside the car.

"We will just get in touch with you and Mrs. Montgomery for her official statement and complaint. It was a good thing she shot only the culprit's shoulders and the wound was just a minor one. She won't be facing any legal consequences based on the facts and evidence you presented."

"Just ensure you will not let him get out of jail." Pointing to Miguel who was now being treated by the Police's medical team.

"Kidnapping and murder is a grave offence. I don't think he will be going anywhere else but in prison."

"Thank you officer."

"Marco! Tell Lance I will get Her back! You can't keep me away forever. Mark my words!" Miguel threatened as he saw Marco leaving.

"You're digging your early grave Miguel. I just hope someday you will see the error of your ways."

And with that, Marco got in his car and drove off. He still needs to be with his best friend on this yet another tragic day.

Marco arrived at the hospital. Cassandra was still at the Operating Room. He found Lance slumped in a couch at the OR's waiting area.

"Lance, have you talked to the doctor?"

"They have been inside since we got here. It's been hours man! I don't know what's happening to my family."

"Do you want something to eat?"

"No. I just want them to be alright. I have been good all my life. I never did anyone any harm. Why do I keep on losing the ones I love?"

"Sometimes, bad things happen to good people to test their faith and strength. God may be preparing you for something bigger. We don't know His plans but we know that he will never forsake us."

"I have strong faith even when I lost my parents. I tried and did accept my fate of being an orphan. I used my grief to do something good with my life. Building a company of my own. Giving other people a way to achieve their hopes and dreams. . .But now, all I think about is, what about my hopes and dreams? Who will grant me my only wish? I thought it was already given to me. But now, I fear that it will soon be taken away."

"I tried my best. I'm sorry I was not able to protect her as I promised. I vowed to never let anything hurt you again and I failed."

"It was never your fault.  Even before, you always thought that if you did things differently, things would not end up as it was. But as you said, we don't know His plans. All of these were already destined to happen. I saw how you risked your life to save my wife."

"I know you would have done the same for me."

"Yes I would. But thank you. Can you stay here? I just have to go somewhere for a while."

"Alright, I'll wait for you here."

It was a good thing they were in a Christian hospital and looking for a chapel will not be a problem.

As Lance knelt at the pew he could no longer control the avalanche of tears that raced from his eyes to his cheeks.

"God, I know you're always listening, but please, please, please I need both of your ears right now more than ever. . . My wife, my child. They both need your help. I will be forever grateful that you gave me my wish. To find the love that I once lost. But perhaps you could lend us more time. . ."
