Our love was once a journey new,
Through comfort, folly and beauty fair,
It was a 'take off' into the blue,
An adventure up and through the air.
Jetting off we piloted on through life,
Though sometimes turbulent and urged to flee,
This tumult grew with pain and strife,
So I collected my luggage and duty free.
Never since have I risked such emotion,
Never since have I been so strained,
Love with its cares and devotion,
Gradually starts to wane.
A plane is fast, a plane is so,
When soaring high 'bove earth and sea,
It is as plain and soon shall slow,
As the boring love you bore for me.
