Oh for the persistence of a wasp!

If at first you don't succeed try and try again,

The wasp inside my bedroom could beat a race of men,

In his persistence, oh so trying, to reach the world outside, to get back to his homeland,

In nature he must glide!

Out amongst the greenery, the flowers, trees and grass,

He tries to reach his family, his life beyond the glass,

Yet like a mirror to a child he cannot seem to get,

The window is the biggest challenge he has ever met!

At first he taps against it in an attempt to break on past,

It's here I thought the insect's life was not about to last,

But then he began to scale the glass, just like a mountaineer,

Yet then he would come crashing down, not yet even near!

You see now there's a goal in sight atop the pane of doom,

An opening, a chance of life out of my bedroom,

This aim our friend had found so soon had beaten many a mite,

I've seen so many common flies who'd given up the fight.

Now over flies and human beings he has the upper hand,

He sees a chance and takes it, opportunity so grand,

To improve his quality of life, his happiness and glee,

Your average human would give it up without some outstanding fee!

Continuing to climb and tumble, persistence is his key,

It soon was clearly working, higher, higher one could see,

The goal was real, it was in sight, it surely was to be,

The sad wasp flew over the edge and at long last he was free!

There is a message to this story, this tiny triumphant tale,

Without persistence, resolve and hope that wasp was doomed to fail,

Three qualities we pursue in life until the bitter end,

A moral from which we all must owe to our tiny two-winged friend!
