Chapter Twenty-Five: Seven more chapters until the end.

Panic. Sheer and unfilitered panic rushed through my body causing me to shiver and convulse. Not only did my body ache but so did my heart and mind. I felt for all those souls who had walked into an unsuspecting trap.

Jack noticed my hesitation and took it upon himself to slash the Hunter's neck. I was in shock and couldn't force my paws to move under me. Jack's brown eyes were warm but his brows were furrowed into a quizzical expression.  The rest of them didn't know what I saw and had plucked from the Hunter's mind.

Cora, we need to get a move on, Jack urged me to step away from the dead body. I couldn't though because my mind was picturing the horrible scenerio. Cooper and his almighty wolves barreling their way through the bunker before sniffing out Raphael and finding where he was being kept locked up. Instinctively Cooper charges inward being on the forefront of the battle only to find himself stunned by the shock of silver against his skin.

We were ill prepared for this. We should have known better. We should have known.

Jackson, there have a room made out of silver. Walls and floors, I stammered mentallly feeling eternally numb on the inside.

Jack's features hardened as he realized what that meant for Cooper. His nudged me along gently forcing me to move my numb body. I felt my wounds healing and my body working its magic charm. Skin repaired itself, and stitched back together in invisible little microfibers. Fur sprouted from the fresh skin, my head cleared from falling and hitting in on the hard ground numerous times. After taking a few steps allowing the shock to wear off, I felt fresh.

Jack took the iniative and began explaining things through the mind link as I readied myself to step in as leader. In that moment, I could see where Jack derived from Alpha blood because the potential was buried deep in his bones. He was collected the entire time, reiterating that freaking out will only make matters worse.

Everything will be okay, Ellie's voice rang through my head, richocheting back and forth in the small confines of my cranium. She answered my silent whimpers. My best friend wasn't dead nor struggling but gone with the wind as far as I knew. Her voice was clear as day, and her words gave me a sense of tranquility. She seemed safe for now, wherever she disappeared to.

I'll find you later, she finished off before dialing out her connection.

My mind automatically refocused on the task at hand. Saving Raphael. I wondered how Raphael survived an agonizingly long week in that torture chamber, and the pain would only force the others to shift. Silver mid-shift only makes it more the dangerous and lethal.

With a surge of power and determination I mustered up the courage and took my position as Luna. There were at least twenty pairs of eyes staring back at me as I padded my way to the front. I beckoned them to follow me but to take great caution since these Hunters were well experienced and equipped to combat wolves. The wolves howled, and growled in anger at the situation. Many were not pleased that their beloved new Alpha was being so mistreated. I couldn't agree more, but the rising of emotional angst would only cause their heads to be murky and not in the game.

Being a Luna and a Queen was a hard fucking job and I was starting to want to give it up. I was shouldering all the responsibility, but because of that fact I knew I couldn't just shrug it off; shrug them off. Jack was acting as my second best man, my Beta in place of Cooper who was more than likely writhing in pain.

My twenty something wolves had caught up with Hero's group in no time. They were pacing eagerly awaiting for Cooper's arrival little did they know that if another SWAT rescue team didn't enter right now most of those wolves would be dead.
