Thank you to everyone who competed in our first poetry contest! We had so many wonderful contestants and were blown away by all of the poets' use of imagery and beautiful diction!

It was a hard choice, especially because poetry is a subjective form of art, but we were able to select our favorites.

The winners are:

3rd Place - "Why the Moon Bleeds Blue" by awkwardteenish

The last time I held you,

the moon bled blue

I felt explosion,

butterflies swarming

more like an erosion,

and darling I knew

our love is as rare

as the moon

when it bleeds blue.

The last time I held you,

the moon bled blue

We collided,

causing hypernova

so enchanted,

sky poured dew

we could only stare

at the moon

as it bled blue.

Every time I hold you,

the moon bleeds blue.

2nd Place - "astronaut man" by illusionboy

i am a space man

and i play with planets like yo-yos

(bounce, bounce, up and down),

threading string between scalding stars

like my life depends on it,

trying to send you a spiderweb message

with salivating constellations dripping from my fingertips,

Charlotte's Web,

tossing your planets, juggling your planets

in my fishbowl helmet,

playing astro-naughts and crosses

with the moon

three in a row:

i love you.

First Place - "galaxy" by TheMasterAssassin101

when the time came,

your memories would tumble down the stream

and into the waterfall of dreams.

take a dip into the pool of serenity,

surrounded by soothing drips of galaxies above.

let music spill into your ears and

cascade down your face

through your spiral eyes

and rain down on your peach lips.

let the notes get tangled in your

champagne hair that pour down

your whirlwind shoulders.

freckles of stardust splatter on your cheeks,

clusters of sunny blemishes and rosy moles.

blindfolds of midnight beads and

moonlight bubbles.

pearl tears trickle down your Milky Way cheeks

and I use my corrupted handkerchief to steal them away,

leaving a trail of twilight - which taints your vibrant skin - behind me.

I have infected you with my personal poison.

I have ruined a perfect creation.

That is why I don't let anyone get close to me.

I'm terrified of hurting them.

Terrified of hurting you.

But love, one way or another,

finds a way to always hurt.
