Chapter 36

Festival

"That's my upuan," I told myself.

Lalapit na sana ako kay Claire para masabi iyon pero bigla namang dumating si Jax.

"Claire, si Cali ang nakaupo riyan. Maghanap ka na lang ng ibang bakante," Jax said.

"Hala, I'm sorry... Akala ko walang nakaupo rito," ani Claire at agad na tumayo.

Umupo na ako sa upuan ko at wala nang sinabi pa. I'm still in shock that she's here! I should've known... Dalawa ang aalis sa Star Sapphire Class kaya naman dalawa rin ang papalit. Chance is next in line and after him, it's Claire.

"Akala ko ba no pets allowed dito sa greenhouse?" bulong ni Xuri.

Tumawa naman si Gelo. "Kaya nga! Pwede pala ang ahas?"

Prof. Somero told us that Claire and Chance will both join the class from now on. Para na rin daw hindi na sila mahirapan mag-adjust for next semester. Theo and Lancer won't join the class anymore, they will have an advance examination for transferees. But they can still be here in school until the festival.

Inanunsyo rin ni Prof. Somero ang tungkol sa nalalapit na school festival. There will be clubs and booths. Ito rin ang most awaited event this semester.

Magkakaroon ng bunutan sa kung anong club ang i-hahandle namin. Pagkatapos ay mag-iisip naman kami ng booths na itatayo sa school fest. Tig-iisang club para sa bawat Class A and Class B students. Ang Class C to Class F naman ay paghahatian namin bilang members ng club.

"Yes, Dance Club!" Xuri shouted. She almost twerk, pinigilan lang ni Gelo.

"Drama Club," Gelo said next.

Ako ang nag-lilist down ng lahat ng clubs. Si Chance ay sa Sports Club tapos si Grant naman ay English Club. Bagay na bagay kay bato, ah!

"Music Club ako," Jax said and looked at me. "Ikaw?"

"Home Economics Club ang akin..." Claire sweetly said.

I stopped myself from rolling my eyes. Akala niya ba siya 'yung tinatanong ni Jax?

"Art Club," sabi ko na lang din.

"You have to plan carefully. And Mr. Pereira, as the Master Sergeant, you have to make sure that everything is feasible," Prof. Somero added before he left.

We are all planning for the booths. Dahil Art Club ang napunta sa akin, I'm thinking of a Face Painting Booth. That would be cool! I think I could paint naman, plus, I can get the artists to join my club! Baka may mga magagaling mag-drawing from other classes!

"Mine will be a Face Painting Booth," I started. "There will be available designs and patterns that the students can choose from. Or it can also be customized, they can show us what design they want. Then we, at the Art Club, will try to do it."

Nakangiti lang si Jax sa akin na para bang lahat ng sabihin ko ay ayos lang.

"Approved!" si Jax iyon.

"Bias!" bulong ni Theo sa gilid ko. Even though he's not part of any clubs, gusto niya pa rin sumali sa planning. Bonding na rin daw iyon bago siya umalis.

Si Lancer naman ay hindi na namin alam kung saan naroroon.

"Akin naman, Food Booth. Iba't-ibang klase ng pagkain ang gagawin ng Home Economics Club every two hours. From pasta, cupcakes, burgers... Sa tingin ko, okay iyon at maraming matutuwa. Saka marami ang pwedeng sumali sa club ko. I mean, lahat naman siguro marunong magluto... Right, Cali?"
