I got permission from my mom to go to the fair so Taliah and I were getting dressed in my room.

It didn't take her long to find something to wear since she basically had half her closet at our house.

"So..." She wiggled her eyebrows at me. "What did y'all do last night?"

"Uh, you know, just watched a couple movies and fell asleep." I said while putting my braids up in a bun.

"Hmm hmmm. I don't believe you." She said as she picked out a pair of shoes.

I huffed. "Okay, Miss 'I had fun'. What were you and Em up to?" I asked, putting on my hoops.

She applied some lip gloss and headed for the door. "A lady doesn't kiss and tell." She said as she walked out.

"A lady doesn't kiss and- Taliah Raquelle Johnson!" I yelled after her.

She just giggled. "They're here. Hurry your ass up." She yelled in response.

I shook my head smiling and followed her outside.

As we approached the car Liam got out of the driver's seat and opened the passenger door.

He made a gesture with his head, tilting it in our direction. "Get out." He said when Emily didn't take his hint.

She got out laughing. "You're lucky I ship you guys. Hey, Taliah." She said, holding the door open for T as Liam held the passenger door open for me.

I laughed and got into the car. I turned my head to say a quick hello to Emily as Liam jogged to the driver's seat.

"Hey." I said when he sat down.

He smiled at me. He's so cute. "Hey. You look really pretty."

I fought the urge to grin from ear to ear and settled on a little smile. "Thanks. You look pretty good too." And I wasn't lying. My man was dripped out.

He grinned. "Thanks, beautiful."

"Drive, Liam." Emily laughed from the back seat.

He shot her a glare before putting the car in reverse and driving off.

"Ayo, can I play music?" I asked Liam and connected my phone to the aux when he nodded.

I went to my spotify and put one of my playlists on shuffle. Taliah and I squealed when the first song started playing.

"I'm in my prime, Optimus. Sagittarius, so you know I'm an optimist." We sang.

<*^ ^ ^*>

We arrived at the fair after thirty minutes of screaming along to lyrics.

As soon as Liam parked the car Emily and Taliah ran off together, giggling and holding hands.

Liam and I laughed at the sight as he grabbed my hand. "Come on." He said, smiling down at me.

I ignored the butterflies in my stomach and smiled back at him.

We walked around the fair, laughing and taking silly pictures. After hours of that and at least half a dozen funnel cakes, we sat down to rest.

"Uh, by the way my birthday's next Saturday and I'd like it if we could do something together." He said, rubbing the back of his head.

I smiled at his nervousness. "Of course." Then I frowned a little. "So, you're going to be an eighteen year old junior?"

There was nothing wrong with that. I just thought that since he takes school very seriously he would have pushed for an early graduation or something.

He chuckled at that. "No, I'm turning seventeen."

"But when you introduced yourself in Velmont you said you were seventeen." I countered.

"I lied." He laughed. "I didn't know how old you were and since girls normally like older guys I didn't want to say I was sixteen."

So did he say he was seventeen for just me, or for all the girls? "Oh." I didn't want to know the answer so I pushed the question out of my mind. "Anyways, come win me a stuffed animal." I said, getting up and pulling his arm.

"Okay, Miss Rose." He said laughing and following me.

It didn't take him long to win a challenge and hand me a big brown bear.

"Thanks, Wells." I said, grabbing it and hugging him in appreciation.

I pulled back and looked into his eyes, the bear long forgotten as I debated with myself on whether to kiss him or not.

He saved me from making that decision by leaning down and placing his lips on mine. I dropped the bear and wrapped my arms around his neck, bringing him in closer.

The feeling was simply indescribable. I pulled away after some time because, unfortunately, I had to breathe.

He kept his hands on my waist. "Even better than I thought it would be." He whispered.

"What?" I asked, my brain still muddled from the knee-buckling kiss.

"Our first kiss." He said as he picked up the bear. He took my hand in his, intertwining our fingers, and we began walking. "Been thinking about it since I met you."

"Oh really?" I asked, nudging his shoulder teasingly.

He laughed, nudging me back. "Yes, really."

We walked back to the car and got into the back seat in silence, just enjoying each other's presence.

Em and T came back too, hopping into the front seats.

My hand was still in Liam's as Emily drove off.

Everyone in the vehicle was quiet.

Content, I would say.
