His Rose

Chapter 14

"And you say you don't love me." Liam mumbled as he picked up the last wing, which I gave up for him.

We were seated at a table in my house eating wings my mom had ordered for us before leaving for work.

"You know what? Give me that shit." I said, reaching to snatch the piece out of his hand.

He pulled away laughing. "Nah, it's mine now." He put it above his head.

"You're gonna get sauce on your hair." I laughed, still struggling to get the wing. I moved from my chair onto his lap so I could get a better reach to the wing.

"It'll be worth it." He whispered. I looked down to see him looking at me with so much sincerity in his eyes.

I leaned in and gave him a quick kiss, pulling away before it deepened. Before he could say anything else, I reached up once again and was successful in grabbing the wing.

I did a little victory dance while eating the wing, then got off his lap. "Choose something to watch while I clear these away." I told him, already picking up some of the bags.

By the time I got done cleaning up he had gotten our big blanket and put on Akudama Drive. "Let's finish this."

I climbed onto the couch and snuggled into his side. "This show is so ghetto." I said laughing.

"Not as ghetto as you not being my girlfriend yet." He grumbled.

I smiled and nudged him. "Say it with your chest, Wells."

He raised his eyebrow. "Word? Because Valentine's day is in a week and I already have the perfect plan."

"Watch the show, Liam." I said giggling.

He laughed along with me and wrapped his arm around my shoulder. "Alright, babe."

I was walking through the hallway when I heard a voice yell my name.

Now I know this bitch-

"Rose!" Kylie said, standing in front of me and having the audacity to raise her voice at me.

"Luo." I said calmly.

She kept the same volume. "Why isn't-" I cut her off.

"First of all, when you're talking to me, lower your fucking tone." I folded my arms across my chest.

She visibly piped down. "Sorry, it's just Ta-"

"Second, you bet not be tryna ask me about Taliah because I will drag you through this hallway." I said, my voice laced with ice.

She let out a sigh and looked close to tears. "I just wanna know why she's not talking to me anymore. She doesn't answer my calls or reply to any of my texts." She cleared her throat when her voice cracked. "I just want to talk to her. All I think about is her. I can't sleep or eat."

My eyebrows drew together sympathetically as I put my hand on her shoulder.

"But you can stick your tongue down other people's throats. Girl bye." I said walking away from her and heading to Velmont.

"Just tell her to call me please." She said desperately.

"Fuck you, Kylie." I yelled.

"Language, Ria." My former Geometry teacher said, his eyes sparkling in amusement.

I laughed. "Sorry, Mr. Ortega." I walked into Velmont's class and my face brightened when I saw Liam.

He had convinced the teachers in the classes we had together to let us sit by each other again.

"Hey, babe." He said, wrapping his arms around me.

I tiptoed a bit to peck him on his cheek. "What's good, shawty?" I asked as I put my bag down and sat in my seat.

He laughed and resumed his seat. "So," He took my hand in his. "Valentine's day is in three days."

Just then the bell rang.

"Oh, would you look at that. Class is starting." I said, using both my hands to reach into my bag for a pencil.

"So what are we doing on the fourteenth?" Emily asked during lunch.

Taliah perked up as I groaned. "Why is everyone so obsessed with that stupid day?" I said as I threw my grape on to my tray.

"Girl, I don't know why you mad when you basically already have a Valentine." Taliah said, biting into her sub.

I opened my bag of plantain chips. "I'm not mad."

"So you do have a Valentine." They said at the same time and giggled when they realized they did.

I playfully rolled my eyes. "All this damn giggling and Emily's question is still unanswered."

"Matter of fact," She said as she started packing up her stuff. "we can talk about this when you guys sleep over tonight."

I furrowed my eyebrows. "Why can't we talk about it now?"

"Because," She picked up her bag. "I have to return some books to the library before Mr. Raizada gets on my ass."

"A'ight see you tonight then." I looked at T to see her looking at Emily go. I nudged her shoulder. "Girl, go."

"Are you sure? I don't want to leave you alone."

"There's only five minutes left. I'll survive." I laughed. "But do you know what you could achieve in five minutes alone with Em?"

She grabbed her bag. "I'm guessing you're speaking from experience with Liam?"

"Girl, just go." I said.

She laughed and picked up our trays, throwing them away before leaving to catch up with Emily.

I took out my folder and did some last minute homework to pass the time. After the bell rang I went to my next class and sat in my seat, waiting for Liam to walk in.

He came in and smiled when his eyes met mine. I smiled and put my fist out to him when he sat next to me.

He bumped his against mine and then intertwined our fingers.

We didn't say the V word for the rest of the day.

Anime watchers, subbed or dubbed? I personally prefer subbed.
