[2.3] SECOND CHANCE AT FIRST LINE: act three

- HALE HOUSE -

Morning. The Hale property is now a crime scene. Handcuffed, Derek is led into a police car by a deputy while Scott looks on by Stiles' jeep.

Then he sees Stiles and Alycia slip into the front seats of the police car.

"Oh god..." he mutters

- POLICE CAR -

Derek glances up from the backseat behind the cage as Stiles and Alycia slip into the front passenger side.

"Just so you know, I'm not afraid of you. And neither is she." Stiles says confidently

Derek almost smiles. Almost

"Okay, maybe we are-" Alycia clears her throat interrupting Stiles. He looks at her and corrects his sentence. "I am. Doesn't matter. I just want to know something, the girl you killed..." Stiles quickly glances around to see if anyone is coming. "She was a werewolf, but she was a different kind, wasn't she?" He asks

He looks to Derek for confirmation. Gets none.

Alycia continues for him, getting Derek's attention. "She could turn herself into an actual wolf. I know Scott can't do that. And I think you can't either. Is that why you killed her?" She asks

"Why are you so worried about me when it's your brother who's the problem?" Derek asks looking at the petit girl, totally ignoring Stiles

Derek comes closer to the cage, but Alycia doesn't move.

"When he shifts on the field, what do you think they're going to do? Just keep cheering him on?" He continues "I can't stop him from playing, but you can. And trust me you want to." He keeps his gaze on the girl

The passenger door swings open and Stiles and Alycia are yanked out of the car by the back of their jackets. Sheriff Stilinski and a deputy drag them over to Scott. Alycia shoots Derek one last glance and sees that he's already looking at her.

"What the hell do you think you're doing?" Sheriff asks his son and the girl

"Just trying to help." Stiles answers

"How about you help me understand exactly how you came across this?" Sheriff continues

"We were looking for Scott's inhaler." Stiles says

"Which he dropped when?"

"The other night."

" the other night when you came out to look for the first half of the body?"

"Yes"

"The night when you told me you were out alone and Scott and Alycia were home?"

"Yes." Stiles answers not realizing. "No." He corrects himself. "Crap."

"Seriously?" Alycia deadpans

"So you lied to me" Sheriff asks

"That depends on how you define lying"

"I define it as not telling the truth. How do you define it?"

"Reclining your body in a horizontal position."

"Get the hell out of here."

"Absolutely."

Alycia follows him muttering curse words to herself

- STILES' JEEP -

Stiles drives while the siblings surf the web with their phones.

"I can't find anything about Wolfsbane being used for burial." Alycia sighs
