Fai's P.O.V
"Now that everyone is ready, let's get started on the rules." The head staff, who I have learned is called Meredith, says passing around.
"Rule One: You guys must shower at least twice a day, the King hates bad hygiene. Rule Two: Lights out by 2300 sharp, meaning you ladies should be done with anything you have to do and be in bed. Rule Three: You are expected to be ready and out of bed by 0800, breakfast should be already eaten. Rule Four: Wear the Colors assigned to you, I will not bother to learn your name."
"Rule Five: Be proper ladies. No cursing, bullying, or pranking. Rule Six: No leaving the maiden house. Rule Seven: Always have a submissive and proper attitude, especially in front of the King and Judges. Rule Eight: Never be late."
After she finishes with the rules, the girls stay silent in shock. I feel a sense of disbelief and anger.
This must be some kind of joke.
"If anyone breaks these rules," She continues. "They'll suffer consequences and be sent home immediately. If any of you low lives want to become queen, following a few simple rules should not be that bad in the first place."
"That's enough Meredith." Marie, the youngest staff says, giving us a small smile. She walks past Meredith who I'm pretty sure is cursing us out under his breath.
"Now ladies let's assign you guys, roommate, there will be 5 groups of 4 members." She gives a smile. "The picking of groups was at random, let's begin"
"Floretta, Anna, Maxine, and Bella will be in the first room," A staff member says, stepping up. "Follow me"
I guess every group will have a leader of some sort.
"Amelia, Reyna, Haven, and Willow are with me in the second room," Marie says, giving them a small smile.
I really wanted her.
Meredith steps up, looking mad as usual with a list in her hand.
"May, Opal, Amethyst, and..." Please don't say my name. Please don't say my name. "Fai" Damn.
May grabs my arm and we follow Meredith to the third room in the hallway. When we reach the room, Meredith pulls out her list again.
"As for chores, you guys are in charge of cleaning every Friday, cooking every Sunday, attending etiquette classes every Monday and Tuesday, and taking care of the garden every Thursday and Saturdays will be considered as "free day" where you are responsible to learn and better yourself as a proper queen." She says in a monotone voice. "It isn't obligatory. Any questions?"
We all shake our heads. I'm sure we all have questions but chose to not anger Meredith any further.
