The year rolled by like a jiff of autumn wind. Anvi, true to her words, gave her best. She would be the first to wake up in the hostel and the last to leave the library. She did not attend any party or celebration. She was sincere to the point of paranoia. She was not ready to lose her Rudra. She could not afford it.

She would meet Sita on weekends. They would go home. Sunday morning was still Chef Anvi special. But she never used to linger around after that. Her life was just her books, notes and classes.

One such Sunday afternoon, Anvi decided to study with Sita while Sita's father prepared khichdi for lunch.

"Anvi, you finish this chapter. Meanwhile, I will get buttermilk from the shop," Sita said while straightening her dupatta. Anvi just nodded, still engrossed in her books while chewing the back of her pen.

After a while, she could hear some commotion downstairs but did not pay attention. She had to finish this chapter in an hour.

Suddenly, she felt a hand taking away the pen gently. Her head shot up to meet the eyes she had longed to see for so long.

"You still chew on your pen?" Rudra smiled. "How are your studies going?" He asked.

Although she wanted to stare at that face for eternity, she had to sacrifice this moment for that to happen.

"Good," She said, shifting her gaze to her books.

Rudra sat there for a moment or two. He finally stood up. Anvi felt a hand on her head.

"Don't be hard on yourself?" He said while patting her head. She closed her eyes. She just wanted to cherish this moment.

Rudra walked out of the room.

The Final exam just came and went. The neverending revisions, end-moment panic and sleepless nights finally ended.

But Anvi's heart was gripped by a new fear of results.

"Anvi, stop pacing around. You are giving me a headache." Sita complained.

"Sita,  how can you be so calm? The results are due any moment now." Anvi was now practically hopping around her room.

"Because I know I wrote well", Sita replied, " Now come and sit down. I will give you a head massage to calm you down." She patted the side of the bed.

Anvi was about to sit on the bed for the much-needed massage but immediately jumped, hearing her phone chime.

"The results are out", the message read in the class group.

Anvi's hands were sweating. She was feeling light-headed. She could not trust herself to check the results.

"C...can..y..you check..for me?" She asked Sita with a shaky voice.

After what felt like an eternity, Sita was jumping and yelling something. Anvi could not exactly understand what she was saying. She tries to concentrate harder.

"Anvi..you scored so well. You can easily be the Uni topper this year, Anvi...AAAANNNNVVIIIIIIIIII!" Sita yelled as she caught a fainting Anvi in midair.

She indeed topped the University that year.
And the next three years as well.
