Chapter 21

Jacob Light

At those five words, I lost control over Dan.

"No!" he growled and pulled Nova against our body. I immediately put my head in her neck and inhaled her scent, hoping to take back control.

"Jacob." My mother sternly said and looked at me. "It think it would indeed be better if we brought Nova home for now."

"No!"

"Jacob, now. You'll regret this otherwise." She growled back and pulled Nova out of my arms.

I growled and before I knew it I had changed into my wolf.

Nova let out a yelp of surprise and grabbed onto my mother like her life depended on it. She probably thought it did, since she wasn't used to seeing my wolf form yet.

"Jacob, please go dress yourself. I will take Nova home."

An uncomfortable silence hung in the car.

My mother kept looking at the road and occasionally shot me an angry glare.

I had royally fucked up this time.

My attention was fixed on Nova, who had been staring at the rainy weather outside the entire time.

Now and then a tear would slide down her cheek, and she'd wipe it away quickly.

"Nova, I am so sor-" I started again, but I was interrupted like all the other times.

"Just stop."

"No Nova, I will never stop, because I can't live without you." I shouted and balled my hands into fists. My knuckles turned white.

Startled, Nova looked sideways, into my eyes.

My heart broke into a thousand pieces when I saw her hurt gaze, the pain in her eyes that she was trying to hide.

"I'm so sorry, Nova..." I softly whispered and cast my eyes down.

'You don't even have the courage to look her in the eyes, stupid Human.' Dan growled in disgust.

"Oh yeah? It didn't look like it to me. I should have known that this was all just some stupid joke."

"Mom, stop the car." I ordered my mother and waited patiently until she had parked it on the side of the road.

I immediately got out and walked to the other side to open the door for Nova, who looked at me in confusion.

"We aren't here yet?" she hesitantly said.

"I know, but I can't take this anymore. Get out the car!"

I hadn't meant to shout at her, but I couldn't handle it anymore. This sadness, this drama all caused by me and I was about to fix it.

I immediately grabbed Nova after the car door closed, and pulled her against me.

Suppressed sobs were coming from Nova while she leaned her head against my shoulder. I softly stroked her hair and let my hands slide over her back, forming small circles with my thumb to calm her down.

"Nova, I am so sorry." I softly began. I calmly continued talking when she didn't say anything this time. "I know how it looked, but I swear to you Nova, I didn't touch her. I wanted no one but you. Please, Nova, you have to believe me." I begged her.

Nova didn't react but softly kept sobbing against my shoulder.

"Nova, I don't want anyone else but you and I was going to push her away. I don't want anything with her." I growled the last part in disgust.

Just the thought of having sex with anyone other than my beautiful mate made me feel dirty.

"B-but..." Nova murmured in between sobs.

"No buts! Nova, I only want you and you alone."

"It didn't seem like it..." she whispered softly but she didn't let go of me, something that gave me a tiny spark of hope.

I swallowed and chuckled at the same time, knowing that she wasn't completely serious anymore.

"Beautiful, I'm sorry. I'm really, really sorry. You don't know how sorry I a-"

"Jacob, please. I know you're sorry." Nova laughed through her tears.

"Nova, sorry."

Nova pulled back from the hug and shook her head while she smiled at me. I brought my hand up to her face and softly wiped away the tears with my thumb.

"Even when you're crying you're gorgeous." I mumbled, not meaning for Nova to hear.

"I bet you're the jokester at home!" Nova laughed and rolled her eyes.

"I actually am, now that you mention it. But seriously Nova: you are beautiful." I said and I wanted to say something else, until Nova also opened her mouth to say something. Of course she was going to object.

At moments like this, there was only one way to shut her up.

I grabbed her waist, pulled her closer against me and pressed my lips against her soft ones full of passion. I touched her lower lip with my tongue, asking for permission. I should've known that she would reject it, but I had my ways to get what I wanted.

I placed my hands against her butt without breaking the kiss and lifted her.

Nova immediately wrapped her legs around my waist, and gave me entrance to her mouth. Nova softly groaned and weaved her hands through my hair.

"Beautiful," I sighed against her lips but Nova didn't hear me, or didn't want to hear me.

"Beautiful," I said again, knowing that I had to stop or I'd lose control over Dan again. Nova groaned and let her hands slide down my back.

"Nova," I said and slowly broke our kiss.

"Jacob," she whispered back, a playful look in her eyes.

I rested my forehead against hers and placed a strand of hair behind her ear.

"You are so gorgeous, you know that?"

Nova's cheeks turned pink and she looked away.

"Don't ever, ever look away." I softly growled and turned her head back.

A small smile appeared on her lips and she placed her hand against my cheek. "Sorry, Nova. I'm so, so sorry."

"Jacob, is that all you can say?"

"No, but I will keep saying it until you see how sorry I am."

"You are unbelievable," she mumbled and rolled her eyes.

"Nova, I love you. I want no one else. No one."
