I woke up to Connie hovering over me and shaking my bed. "Hallie, it's game day! get up! get up!" she said, excitedly.

"ughhh. can't I sleep for five more minutes?" I groaned. "nope!" she said with a smirk. she threw the covers off of me then pulled me out of bed by the arms. "Miss McKay made us breakfast. c'mon!" said Connie as she began to make her way out of the dorm.

I sleepily followed her to the kitchen, where most of my team already was. there was fruit, pancakes, and whipped cream lying on the counter, so I grabbed a plate and got myself some.

after making my plate, I tiredly walked to the table and took a seat beside Charlie. "just woke up?" he asked, grinning. "yeah." I groaned.

"what time is it, Charlie?" I asked. "around 8. the game is at 2:00 this afternoon." he said. "oh gosh." I said, nervously. "don't worry, Hallie." laughed Charlie.

"hey look! it's your man." giggled Charlie as he pointed at Luis who had just walked into the kitchen. "shut up. we aren't dating." I laughed as I nudged him. "yet..." smirked Charlie.

after making his plate, Luis sat down beside me. "good morning." he mumbled. "good morning, Luis." Charlie and I said in unison.

I couldn't help but smile seeing Luis with his bed head and his half shut eyes, trying to stay awake. he was the cutest thing.

"are you excited for the game?" I asked Luis. "I guess." he said, rubbing his eyes. Charlie and I looked at each other and laughed a little.

a moment later, Adam walked into the kitchen; wide awake. "good morning everyone!" he said, excitedly. "good morning." we all mumbled.

clearly, Adam was the only one fully awake and not at all tired. he got some food and sat at the table that Luis, Charlie, and I were sitting at.

Luis shot Adam a dirty look; so I kicked his foot beneath the table. Luis didn't have to like Adam, but he sure in the hell was going to respect him. he innocently smiled at me and I gave him a soft grin. I couldn't help it; he was adorable.

"good morning team USA!" shouted coach Bombay as he walked into the kitchen. "good morning." we groaned. "wake up everyone! it's going to be a great day!" he said, enthusiastically. "we're going to do amazing today! I'm so proud of you all for making it this far; I never expected this. let's go team USA!" shouted coach.

we all smiled; we really appreciated the motivation. with the game just a few hours away and our nerves high, it was needed.

it was around 2:20 when we all headed out to the arena. we chanted and cheered as we walked as a team to the rink.

"I don't know what I've been told! team USA's gonna win the gold!" we chanted as we excitedly made our way.

as I walked beside Julie, Connie, and Luis, Luis looked over at me, smiling, and took my hand.

Connie noticed our interlocked fingers and looked at me strange. "uh, Hallie... Adam is up there." she said pointing to him at the front of the crowd. "I know." I said, smiling. Luis smiled over at me as Connie and Julie smirked at the two of us. "I see..." said Julie.

before long, we made it to the arena and went in; then headed towards the locker room.

we all conversed as we got dressed, talking about how excited we were and such things. I talked to Julie as I got my gear on, anxiously.

"Hallie, you look terrified. loosen up, have fun, be excited! we'll do great, alright? win or lose, just remember we made it this far and be proud. don't worry about anything else." said Julie as she hurriedly got geared up.

"thanks, Julie. you really know how to make me feel better." I said, smiling. I was fully geared by then, besides my newly sharpened skates that needed tying.

just after I began to tie the laces, Luis came over to me. "you're too slow Hallie!" he said as he knelt down in front of me and began tying them for me. I couldn't help but smile.

just a moment later, was the most surreal moment of my life.

I walked in between Adam and Luis as, us, and the rest of team USA stepped onto the ice.

bright lights blinded us, the sound of a cheering crowd was music to my ears, and I was just moments away from competing in what would possibly be the most important game of my life.

this whole chaotic experience came down to this game.

it was my time now.
