I managed to push open the door while still keeping my fingers locked with Dan's. I couldn't help but notice his hand felt a bit clammy, but I assumed it was because of slight fear of telling our friends about us right now. He just agreed to 'play it cool' though, and I'm glad because it would definitely relieve some of the tension he thought would occur. I won't lie, I did find it a bit cute that he was nervous. It just shows how much he wants this to go right. And I love that.

"Hey kids." Dan chimed in first, followed by a cheeky grin and the appearance of his signature dimple.

I could've sworn all of their eyes bugged out of their heads the moment they glanced at our hands. I may or may not have internally cackled at that. Yes, they knew we were "having a chat" in the kitchen, but they definitely didn't expect us to come out with rosy cheeks and interlaced hands right then. And they of course weren't prepared for the little game we were about to play.

"H-hey um, boyfriends?" Chris questioned, eyebrows raised as a smirk creeped onto his face.

Dan and I exchanged an "awkward" and "disgusted" glance as part of the act.

"What the hell, Chris? What would possess you to ask something like that?" I lashed out angrily, to the best of my ability as I still held tightly onto Dan's hand. As cliché as it sounds, I couldn't help but take in the fact that it fit perfectly in mine.

"Yeah dude, did you forget that I'm marrying Kayla next week?" Dan rolled his eyes. "I thought you were gonna be my best man but whatever."

"But guys, then why are you- is this some kind of"

"Yeah, it is some kind of bullshit. Thanks to you forgetting something so important." I suggested.

Dan squeezed my hand, I guess to tell me we were doing great and I bit my lip to prevent unwanted laughter flowing freely.

"What the hell is this, guys?" Becky almost shouted.

"I believe it's called short-term memory loss?" Dan rambled on. I literally just told you about the wedding and everything yesterday."

Heck if I wasn't part of this prank I'd probably believe Dan just because of the tone of voice he was currently using. Completely serious with a sprinkle of ominous.

Becky's face contorted into the most unreadable expression, "I believe it's called I don't know what the hell you're on about."

"I... I..." Dan attempted to start again. "I CANT DO THIS ANYMORE OH MY GOD YOU GUYS ARE INSANE."

I released my bottom lip from its torturous grasp beneath my teeth and nearly cried out in laughter alongside Dan. The others shook their head and smiled, nonetheless still staring at us like we were the insane ones. Which we were. In the best way.

"We're insane?! I was just about to say you're clearly delusional!" Chris went.

"Okay alright oh jeez wow, how about sitting down now and telling us all the REAL and cheesy stuff." Jessica suggested, pointing to the area in which we were previously sat.

Dan and I popped a squat, but instead of him sitting next to me, I pulled him into my lap and wrapped my arms around his waist. Because I can.

"Fucking hell you guys are killing me with cuteness and you haven't even told us anything yet." PJ gushed.

"Oops sorry." I smiled, before pecking Dan's cheek and continuing. "Well okay, we were just kinda talking about you know, that one night where we were both drunk and-"

"Fucked like animals?!" Chris interrupted.

"Fuck yeah." Dan responded.

And now I was blushing and resembling a ketchup bottle. Cool, cool.
