EDITED

After the whole incident in the car park I had managed to make it to the school office without being disturbed again. Zekie was waiting just outside for me as he had promised.

"What took you so long did you get lost?"

"No I got cornered by some twats in the car park, but don't worry I took care of them"

"Please tell me you didn't hit them Taves at least not on the first day" his face was now plastered with worry which made me smile a bit.

"Chill out Zekie I don't do that very often"

"But when you do it causes a huge problems. You pack a punch even if you are a dwarf"

I roll my eyes at him as we walk into the office. I may only be 5 foot 2 but they don't make diamonds as big as bricks I guess.

The office was a painful experience. Usually you would go in there and get your class schedules and locker combinations but due to our "exceptional circumstances" I've just had to endure a talk on the great facilities the school offers for my brother and I's particular needs.

What happened to us having a normal year?

I get to my locker and open it noticing all of my books and things are already in there. I have to go to home room which I'm guessing is like registration in the Uk and then I have to go to English. After that I can't remember. As i was lost in thought I didn't notice the figure approaching me.

"Hi!" Someone practically shouts at me.

I jump out of my skin and smack my head on the locker. Jesus Christ I'm really starting to hate this school.

"Oh sorry about that I didn't mean to scare you"

"No problem" I mumble while getting my stuff out of the locker.

"Sorry can you say that again and maybe face me this time"

"Why face you?" I say turning to meet the girl.

She is rather tall and slender with long blonde hair and bright blue eyes. By the looks of things she is also slightly obsessed with the colour pink. It's like looking at my total opposite.

"Oh I'm deaf"

Of course you are I think.

"What the hell is that supposed to mean?"

Shit I said that out loud and by the looks of things this girl is properly pissed. I'm just glad I can sign.

"Look I'm sorry I didn't mean anything like that. I just have my own problems that don't make me normal and I thought the school had sent you to make friends with me to show how "inclusive" they are" I signed.

"Don't sweat it. I know that feeling. By the way cool signing. I'm April"

"Tavi"

At that a bright red light started to flash on Aprils wrist.

"That would be time for homeroom then. We have a few extra minutes to get there. What's your schedule?" She signs

I hand over my schedule as I go back to collecting my books from my locker.

"You have all the same classes as me today so you can just follow" she says before she walks off expecting me to follow her.
