Hey guyssss! Sorry for not updating in so long again. Fortunately, I only have to do one more exam and then I promise I'll be posting more frequently :) Anyway, hope you like it!! Please vote and comment :)

A/N: Hey readerssss!! Sorry for not updating in forever. Good news is that I'm done with my mid-terms and they went well, so to make it up to you for not updating, I'm going to do a double update (hopefully you'll forgive me after this :P)

Anyways, enjoyyy!!!

Mackenzie Ziegler wiped her eyes. She'd just had a really tough tumbling class. She'd survived an hour of performing back handspring back tucks over and over and over and over and over and over and over just because her coach had nothing else for her to do. Then she'd had the nerve to come over and shout at Mackenzie for taking a five-minute break to get water and pee, two necessary functions. Biting her lip angrily, Mackenzie opened her locker and unzipped her hot pink dance bag. Just as she was grabbing some pre-wrap to strengthen her throbbing ankle, a note fluttered out.

It was written on nice, off-white paper. The letter was typed in a sixteen-point Batang font.

My not so dear Mackenzie,

I was watching you dance with Nia, Kendall, Chloe, and Maddie, and can I give you a little advice, sweetie? For your own good?

Quit dance! You can’t dance! You’re horrible! You don’t fit in with those amazing dancers. Not at all.

No wonder Abby wants to replace you. I would too.

I mean, you can’t even beat Asia Ray. What makes you think you could possibly outshine Maddie Ziegler? You’ll always be in her shadow, just like everyone else. But it must suck the most for you, since you have to live with her.

XOXO,

Someone who is trying to help you out a little, hon.

Mackenzie felt tears clog her eyes. She was sick of everyone putting her down, being rude to her, and comparing her with Maddie. When would it be her time to show them what she was made of? When would it be her time to come out into the light? She knew she had potential, but if there were always people holding her back, what could she do? Nothing, that was what.

"Kenz, are you okay?" Maddie's sweet voice penetrated through her musings.

Mackenzie wiped her tears away and embraced Maddie. "Yeah, tumbling just sucked."

"Are you sure that's all?"

Suddenly, Mackenzie's eyes narrowed and her heart dropped into her stomach. All the horrible things she'd been thinking lately came pouring out. "You're an amazing dancer, Maddie, and I'm terrible! I'm only good at acro, and I can't even beat you or even Asia at that! And she's great at everything! I'm always hiding behind you and no one cares about me. I'm "Maddie's little sister" or "the pitied girl." But I can dance! Why can't they just give me a shot?" She sank onto the wooden bench and put her head in her hands. "And don't try to talk me out of it. You know everything I said is true."

Maddie looked horrified. "Kenz! None of that is true and you know it! I love you so much, Kenz. You're not just my sister, you're also one of my best friends on Earth. You're beautiful, a terrific dancer, and you're going to get really far in life. Ignore Abby and screw anyone who thinks differently. You're gorgeous and special. You deserve this, and you will beat Asia Ray. You got it?"

Mackenzie smiled a little and lightly hugged her sister. "Okay." As she said it, the piece of paper she was clutching unfolded and floated to the floor.
