Separation anxiety

It is a sad day in history when a child looks upon their mother's open embrace and crying face and whispers "if you are my mom, why did you leave me?" as she whispers through hoarse breath, "I am your mother, baby, I didn't leave you. I didn't want to let you go." How can a parent explain to a child they are breathing illegally, hoping illegally, being stripped of their children illegally? It is a sad day as a mother tries to hold her child who distrusts her arms and runs around trying to hold her baby. "How do I explain if I could beat the brown and Spanish tongue out of us I would, mi niño? I would conceal us in white forever. I would give this earth and all it's worth to hold you, so please just let me. Please." As the child scrambles away she falls to her knees, her child is just out of reach but the detention center that kept them apart might as well have been kept for it has built itself a home in the child's heart. Seeing her baby not want her will always make her hate the color white a little more. "If you are my mommy, where did you go?"
