Walking down the stairs, I hear Stefan on the phone. Being nosy as ever, I listen in. "Okay look, I know where we're at, you and I, and I know it would be stupid to even think that we could go back to the way things were, but I'm going to the dance and I'd like to go with you," Elena says.

"Um, I'd love that," Stefan replies, as I walk up behind him.

"Okay, great. Bye." They both hang up the phone. I smirk as Stefan turns to face me. "Can I help you?" he asks, raising an eyebrow at my amused glance.

I pretend to think for a moment before responding, "I'm thinking gardenia corsage. Wrist obviously, you don't want to accidentally stab her in the chest with the pin. Now, that could get messy. And..."

"Lily," Stefan groans, rubbing his hand over his face. "Please, don't make a big deal out of this."

"What!" I feign shock as I walk up to my twin. "Make a big deal? But Steffy," I coo, "this is the first school dance I get to send you off to. This is an important moment," I place a hand on his chest, looking up at him with wide eyes. "Oo," I jump, "I need to find the camera for pictures and-"

"You done yet?" Stefan cut me off, rolling his eyes. I frown.

"Hey, I'm just playing my part as embarrassing sister," I state, crossing my arms as I glare at Stefan. He stares back impassively. "Okay yeah, I'm done," I sigh, breaking. "Being perky is hard, I don't know how Caroline does it," I yawn, walking to get a drink.

Stefan follows me. "Speaking of Caroline, I heard that she invited you to the dance. Seems as if you two are becoming fast friends." I pour myself a drink, sipping it before facing Stefan.

"I wouldn't go as far as calling us friends, but I did run into her at the Grill last night and after a chat I found her to be tolerable," I shrug, taking a sip.

"Tolerable?" Stefan echoes. He smiles at me amused. "So am I going to be seeing you there then? I'd love to know what you were up to in the 20's."

I smile at the thought. I loved the 1920's, the rebellion of flappers and prohibition and the creation of speakeasies were a magical time. "I think I might have to make an appearance," I grin at my brother. Finishing my drink, I set it down before bypassing Stefan to head upstairs to find something to wear.

...

Looking in the mirror, I smooth down my dress. Throwing on some makeup and fixing my hair, I'm pleased at how I look, deciding to leave the house. Stefan had already left to pick up Elena. When I arrive the dance is already in full swing and I spot Caroline and Matt talking at the punch bowl. "Hey," I greet as I approach them.

"Lily," Caroline exclaims, surprised to see that I actually showed up. "I'm glad you're here. You look gorgeous."

"Thanks," I grin, taking in Caroline's red dress. Not to bad. "You look great as well," I smile at her before glancing at Matt. "You clean up real nice," I wink at him. He smiles shyly, turning his head to hide his blush, causing my smile to widen. "Looks like you got a great turn out," I observe, taking in the dance from the cringe worthy, fake, flapper dresses, to the crappy jazz music, and the gaudy decorations. I love it! "Is that Bonnie?" I point to a girl dancing in the center. From what I heard about the Bennett witch, I know that has to be her.

"Yeah," Caroline says, "and that's her date Jamie." I nod at the information. We three continue to chit chat, taking in the music, when Matt gasps, looking behind my head.

"What's he doing here?" Turning my head, I find a young guy dressed in a suit, greeting people. Caroline rushes to his side immediately, seeming to have an intense conversation with him. I shoot Matt a questioning look. He sighs. "That's Tyler, Caroline's boyfriend, and Klaus's first hybrid. He sired to Klaus, so he left to try break the bond. He's not supposed to be back yet, if Klaus sees him..." Matt trails off but I gather what he means.
