"Lily?" My name stops me in my tracks at the edge of the Salvatore estate.

"Klaus." I murmur, taking in the site of the hybrid in front of me. "What are you doing here?" Seeing Klaus was the last thing I wanted to do right now. After my conversations with Jess and Elijah I have so many thoughts spinning in my head. Most of them revolving around the man in front of me. And having him here now...staring at me...it's too much.

"I came for you," Klaus says, stepping toward me. I retreat subconsciously as my gut twists. Something doesn't feel right. "I hate how we left things, and I want to make them right."

My brows furrow as I take in his words. "Is that so?" I question with a raised brow. "Since when do you go out of your way to grovel at another's feet?"

"Lily," he breathes, reaching a hand in my direction. I shake my head, stepping away. "Can't we just talk?"

"No. That wasn't part of the deal." I frown at his expression, watching as it shifts ever so slightly into a pout. There's no frown echoed back at me, no battle within his lips dropping and lifting as he fights to control his emotions. No hurt flashing across his eyes or annoyance at the reminder of my request from days prior. This isn't how I would expect Klaus to react. A nagging feeling presses against my chest as I scrutinize the man in front of me. "You can't honestly expect me to just accept you back into my life because you came here to tell me that you were wrong." The words fall from my lips with conviction as I lay my trap. What I said doesn't pertain to our argument from the other day. It doesn't relate to the promise he made me.

"But I was wrong, Lily. And I wish to make it right."

Horror floods my body as I stare at Klaus. Only this isn't Klaus...not my Klaus. The Klaus Mikaelson I know would never admit any wrong-doing or guilt. "Who are you?" I demand. "Klaus would never say he was wrong, which means..." I gasp, "Silas!"

Before I can react a hand clasps onto my throat shoving me against a tree. The bark scratches my skin as I let out a hiss between my lips. As his left hand keeps a tight grip on my throat, Klaus/Silas raises his right hand to graze over my cheek. "You are beautiful. With beauty such as yours, it is understandable why Klaus continues to chase after you. I must admit, I was hoping you'd recognize me for my true form. Your mind is a majestic thing--so many locked doors, nooks and crannies, and of course deep, dark corners. I would love to discover them all."

With a snarl, I slam my hands against Klaus/Silas's chest, but it does nothing. "What do you want from me?" I wheeze in short breaths, my airway constricting under Klaus/Silas's grip.

Klaus/Silas hums. "Nothing, actually. It's Bonnie that I need. You are just for fun. Your brothers have been messing with my plans, and I ponder what a better distractor is than a deceased sister." The hand around my neck tightens and I cough. My hands rise, curling around his hand to try to pry it away but to no avail.

"You think that will work? You can read all of our minds but you don't understand the single flaw in your plan?" I laugh through the little air I can manage to suck in. "My brothers don't care about me that much. They have Elena to think about. Elena always comes first." Coughing, I squeeze my eyes shut. Choking me won't kill me, but it sure is annoying.

Klaus/Silas watches me. Amusement glints in his eye. "Do you really believe that?" He chuckles. "If you do, then you are as ignorant as you are gorgeous. Yes, I am aware of your brothers' obsession with the doppelgänger, Elena. However, I know that at the end of the day, family comes first. As you said, I can read minds. And I have found that the Salvatore family, no matter how strained, always fight for their own."
