Yū Nishinoya,

the boy you saw had the biggest grin

the boy whose shout always one higher pitch above everyone

the boy who lifted up towered spirit higher

the boy that unintentionally took most of your time
and you didn't seem mind.

Yū Nishinoya,

the boy whom you adore,
and yet he didn't seem to mind that.

The bell rang, ceasing your train of thought. You're getting worried about yourself, and more cautios as well. The name Nishinoya in your mind had lingered for months too many, getting louder and longer each day that you're actually afraid someone could actually hear your unending notions.

You knocked your head, motioning your mind to let everything back in, not just the libero.

School took a sharp turn downhill since meeting --or rather caught the volleyball's player glance once, followed by the signature grin he always loved to wear. You got attracted. To someone who doesn't even know you exist.

That's why today you're planning to change that.

You're going to confess.

You did not lunge unpreparedly. You've bought your favorite ice cream and a detailed schedule of film marathon, for a rejection. And yesterday you've slipped a note on his shoe locker to meet you behind the school.

Or so you thought.

"Hey! Are you the one who called me here?" he enthusiastically beamed, the obvious cluelessness on his feature was almost unbearable. "U-um yeah," you stammered, failing miserably at attempting to mirror the boy's expression.

"Are you okay? you looked tense" drops of concern covered his feature. "Eh? Y-yes, I th-think so." it should have gave you away but not to Nishinoya, the boy was as dense as a brick. "Well if you say so, alright, what do you need me for?" he flashes an excited grin.

You inhaled the air as if it was the last chance you got to do so, holding onto a hope the air would give you the courage you're lacking.

It does not.

His staring wasn't helping so you closed your eyes, gathering the determination you had tried to find for the past weeks. You told yourself it's now or never. Heart thumping abnormaly fast and fingers shaking, unlike any other doubtless confession, you only manage to whisper meekly,

"I l-like you, senpai." You didn't open your eyess, the thought of seeing his figure intimidated you so you kept them closed.

The stillness continued therefore you dared to peek.

There, was a sight you didn't expect he would wore. A smile.

He laughed,
he grinned,

But never once you saw the boy smiling genuinely, yet here you are.

He was extremely gorgeous you could not help but stare, completely forgetting the reason why you were so afraid of looking his face before. It was short lived, as he suddenly spoke, snapping you into the reality.

"Thank you" he started.

You cursed to yourself mentally. A reply of a confession that started with a thank you was never good. Why should this be different? Your mood plummeted, completely brought down even though he did not mean to--or maybe being careful.

He continued, "But you can go for a much better guy than me, ya know?"

The same smile refused to leave his side.

The sentence stirred your stomach way too hard for your liking, the boy managed to reject you in the gentlest way possible, it's like he's being considerate upon the struggle you've gone through just to be able to stand straight in front of him that he had put his words of rejection as thoughtful as possible.

This fact made you anything but relieved. It only made you fall for the guy harder. His truthful smile wasn't helping. It was as if he believe so much the statement he just said, he thought of you so highly, higher than you ever thought you were gonna be.

And it was devastating, how genuine he can be.

"That's not fair." you put a hand over your eyes, attempting to cover the tears that were spilling.

"You can't reject me while smiling like that, Nishinoya-senpai." your voice cracked uncontrollably but you did not care.

You desperately wanted to unlike the guy, but the feelings were too precious. Too valuable that you decided liking Nishinoya was something you could not ever regret in your life,

He worth all the time you've spent for him even though he didn't know it.

Soon, the lines of your sobs filled the conversation as he watched you helplessly, not really knowing what to do as he frantically search all over his body for something you can wipe your face with, and did not succeed.

Inbetween of your cry you managed, "Thank..you.. Nishinoya-senpai."

for genuiness and honesty

for teaching such thing as adoration
for the sunshine you brought

for minding others feelings.

He was a bit taken aback by your response, but regained his composure immediately and plastered a free smile, a sign of reassurance, that you're gonna be fine.

And you believed that, even though you knew it was going to take a while.
