The Beta is the right hand man/woman of the Alpha. Sometimes the Beta can be born into the position, other times, it can be from being the Alpha's best friend. Either way, the Beta is almost always the best friend of the Alpha, and helps the Alpha with the Pack.
The responsibilities of the Beta are:
··Lead the Pack in the absence of the Alpha and Luna
··Gamma responsibilities if there isn't one
··Help the Alpha with paperwork
··Lead a few patrols per week
··Oversee Pack events
··Attend meetings with the Alpha and Luna
··Choose the best warriors
··Guard the Luna
··Take over as Alpha if the old one dies and didn't have a pup
··Attend Pack meetings
··Tell the Alpha about upcoming events
As with the Alpha and Luna, the Beta can reject their mate and accept the rejection. That's about the only thing they can do as far a ceremony words, which are about the same as the Alpha and Luna.
