Fu Yushu finally had someone send Fu Changling on his way after he provided Fu Changling with loads of tips on how to chase girls.

The new recruitment at Hongmeng Heavenly Palace was still a month away. Fu Changling's injuries hadn't yet healed completely, so Fu Yushu simply arranged for a carriage and handed him a ring. He sighed as he patted Fu Changling's hand and said, "Changling, you may be the son of a rich merchant, but you shouldn't flaunt your wealth too much. Ordinary people are not as well off as our family. You still need to get used to a little bit of adversity in everyday life."

"I know." Fu Changling also felt a mild headache as he noticed Fu Yushu's concerned expression.

Fu Yushu thought that he understood nothing about ordinary people's lives, but in fact, following the Fu Clan's downfall, he spent quite a long time living among the mortals in order to avoid being tracked down by Qin Yan, who was after him.

But he couldn't reveal too much of this, so he could only listen to Fu Yushu's ramblings. "As you are now at a low cultivation level, I have prepared many magic tools, talismans, and numinous treasures for self-defence purposes, as well as many life-saving pills, all of which are stored in this Zhenlong Ring. You are free to give anything to my daughter-in-law except this. If you do, you won't be able to conceal your identity should you be discovered."

"I get it. I get it." Fu Changling raised his hand over his head. "Father, don't worry, I'm not that stupid. It's getting dark, and I had to get going."

"Go ahead," Fu Yushu sighed. "I'll help you find a solution to your Jindan problem. You take refuge in the Hongmeng Heavenly Palace first. Don't be too upset."

"Don't worry about me," Fu Changling said, patting Fu Yushu's shoulder. "Be kind to yourself. Don't worry too much, and take good care of your health. I'm off now."

Having said that, Fu Changling hopped onboard the carriage. He noticed a young man in plain clothing seated inside as soon as he entered. Fu Changling simply stared at the other person, startled, until he heard him respectfully say, "Gōngzi, I am Chen Zhu, the servant who grew up with you."

Only after Fu Changling was introduced to him did he feel relieved, knowing that this was the person Fu Yushu had arranged to accompany him in order to conceal his identity. He coughed softly, nodded, and said, "Get up. Don't be too formal."

With that, Fu Changling sat on one side, while Chen Zhu got up and sat on the carriage's farthest side. When Fu Changling turned to glance back, he saw that Fu Yushu was still standing in the same spot at the rear of the carriage, leading the others and keeping an eye on his carriage as it began to move slowly.

As Fu Changling gazed on in silence, his heart was suddenly touched in some way.

The youngster back then would never have paid attention to these nuances, but looking at them now, he realised the feelings hidden in this stop-and-stare expression.

As he looked on in silence, Chen Zhu suddenly asked, "Does Gōngzi not want to bid farewell to Lǎoyé?"

"Bid farewell?" Fu Changling turned his head back in some confusion, and Chen Zhu smiled. "Gōngzi is rather a mature yet glum adolescent. If it were us mortals, we'd probably be waving our hands and saying something at this moment to set our parents' concerns at ease."

Fu Changling pursed his lips and smiled at these words.

"You're right," he admitted, lowering his voice. "I'm seventeen, and I'm not supposed to be so."
