Bridges burn when the hearts are lost
Eyes close, windows shutter, what is the cost
Of failed love and life not lived
What would be the end of a soul deceived?
The whispering throes of sweltering passion fade
Shall we continue or will we personally cascade
Down the road of endless courses of the faithless river
Will we have found our voice if it's lost in the litter?
In the silence, in the noise, perhaps it's all the same
Reckless, selfish, pointing fingers all to blame
The night is dark but sometimes the heart is darker
Sometimes I wonder what would happen if we stayed together

The world is greedy, hungry—crumbling for you
The heart is selfish, brackish—have you paid your due?
In a fallen well of spite and happiness forsaken
Sacrifices are made to ease the pain of dreams forgotten
Because in the heat of anger, all reason die
The mouth speaks when the heart wanted to lie
It should have been bliss, it should have been fine
What did others say—why, now, in regret, we dine?
Keep us fighting—is it still enough?
For me, for us—will the world be just as rough?
In the stillness of night and bitterness still
Sometimes I wonder if we stayed against our will

Freedom of choice, life tells us to use
To leave, to stay, to fight—we should just choose
But should we? Should we bother to save it
When everything is already failing at every heartbeat?
Pain, heartache, feelings hurt deep down
When will you be able to erase that frown?
The answer will be never—I know that now
The pain never fades, but to dull it, I know how
The way to deny hearts is something I must know
Shall I continue the fight of cages you've begun to sow?
We could have been free—we wished for it instead
Sometimes I wonder if we have the right words we said

The future dies as hope flickers off
I thank you, then, I whisper just as soft
Memories made, memories lost in the gutter
Of unfulfilled promises and things meant for the better
We stay at the echoing pattern of our glorious past
Why are we still here if our time has come to last?
We could have left, we both know we want to
What changed your mind so I know what to do?
We have a choice, but I suppose, we missed the chance
To revive love, to believe, to perfect our dance
Darling, we all have lives left and short years
Sometimes I wonder if our love is ever worth our tears

The future dies as hope flickers offI thank you, then, I whisper just as softMemories made, memories lost in the gutterOf unfulfilled promises and things meant for the betterWe stay at the echoing pattern of our glorious pastWhy are we still here ...
