18 | a million pieces

I guess we could call it as it is
What we have before our eyes as the cold freezes
Our hearts, our dreams, it's all suspended in balance
But I never did complain, what more should I give a chance?
I choose my battles but somehow I'm fighting for you
Right where we started, somehow I'm paying the due
Do you know why, love? Why did I choose us?
The truth? I have no one else that could last
Up close, it's just really convenient at this point past
Are you angry? Sad? I am too—we're downcast
How did we even brave storms and endless caprices
I will stay by your side until we explode into a million pieces

The days bled by even though they're alike
Words tore through, the same thoughts despite
No amount of art could inspire me to move forward
As I watch my reflection turn into a collection of shards
I sit, I stare, I watch the wind blow by
Thinking of what could have been—the ifs, the why
I never did get far because I ended up sad
Because I know the final chapter, having experienced the bad
Shallow love stories, painting truths close to home
That's our life, too late to override the monochrome
It's been a ride—ups and downs through it all
I collect our million pieces in my pitiful crawl

Leaves fall—the seasons have come and gone
Nothing is new—not one under the sun
Should I be glad, then—should I enjoy the dream
Should I continue chasing it like playing with steam?
You've always told me to stay still, to enjoy the present
So why would you tell me now that you're all spent?
You're tired? You're human but you forget that I am too
My bones grow weary as I spend years not knowing what's true
I think of the future, what could we find for us
Will we find love, pain, freedom as thus?
Because darling, I am living in the most dreaded hazes
So cradle me in your arms to catch my million pieces

I reach out for you but my hands grip air
I scream, I falter—my mind is too difficult to bear
Is that why you left, because of me?
Have you peeled back the curtains to reveal the travesty?
Of the truth that we are nothing but convenience
We shouldn't be more or we'll suffer the consequences
But here we are—deceiving ourselves what we'll make it
Tell me how our lives suddenly became a game to beat
The sense of the world has left me early on
Now, I realize what we've been missing since the dawn
For years, we bore the fantasy from the farthest of reaches
So stay by my side until we shatter into a million pieces

I reach out for you but my hands grip airI scream, I falter—my mind is too difficult to bearIs that why you left, because of me?Have you peeled back the curtains to reveal the travesty?Of the truth that we are nothing but convenienceWe shouldn't b...
