9 | at the edges

Roads deserted, where do I begin?
Destiny revealed, drops of rain against our skin
You found me in the deepest waters
I found you in the hardest of surrenders
Do you think we have found what we're looking for
Have we become better than who we were before?
The past has gone and yet the future awaits
The lies have passed yet destiny dictates
I sit here, at night, trying out letters on pages
Thousands of words, all calm in their cages
I swore, better than a thousand wages
That I found you, alone and broken at the edges

The emotions have long left me
Now I stare dead ahead, I know no liberty
The world is all just blind solitude
When the rest is done and joy exclude
The missing beats, the prayers spent
I wasted enough phrases when I know I can't
Lie about my sins, I have no story
Dead souls, in Hell, have no room for glory
Am I sad? Angry? I do not know
Am I happy? Vicious? What will I sow?
All I know is that life is all but in stages
Step by step, would we find each other at the edges?

Promises deserted, will they all come back to you?
Fate distracted, who cares about the view?
Life is just a jumble of words left unsaid
Love is just a pile of feelings, lost and misread
Roads not taken, where have they all led?
What silent tears could my eyes have shed?
sacred keeping, have my veins already bled?
We did promise, so now we are all dead
Starring in the act of our own mystery
Do you know what sounds truly scary?
It's the constance of ire and ultimate changes
How we stay and fall—we scream at the edges

Now I watch the heavens turn into blood
We could have done something to avoid the flood
But there is nothing to be done at this point
Nothing left hanging by the joyless joint
Yet we stayed, we are still here
I wonder why—is it because of fear?
Because we are different yet the same
No one will stay by our side and emerge sane
So we stick together, watching our lives fly by
We've nowhere to go, except, maybe to die
Years went by, days bled into endless ages
As I watch us unravel—falling apart at the edges

Now I watch the heavens turn into bloodWe could have done something to avoid the floodBut there is nothing to be done at this pointNothing left hanging by the joyless jointYet we stayed, we are still hereI wonder why—is it because of fear?Because ...
