Keeping score, defending beliefs in built fortress
Drowning sleep on faithless screams, futile and fruitless
What have we fought for, what have we tonight?
Dark, ruthless, priceless—these are what's keeping me alive
Resolutions fade, there's no hope even in the dying light
So tell me now—how would I even survive?
All faded dreams, the repeating patterns of life
Same days, same fights—points same every strife
Don't you get tired? Won't you long for something new?
Will you see only good things even though they are few?
Hope is a fickle thing—won't you plead your case?
I walk, I beg—where is our saving grace?

Settling debts, now isn't it that hard to see
Years and years, are we being who we want to be?
Chorus of wishes, the soul tires of everything
Grim endings, let's just go back to the beginning
Of sweet love and fun, stifling, unending bliss
We are blind and we aren't prepared for things like this
The storms of sides not heard, fighting for ear
Bleeding points, shattered souls—what have we here?
I ask questions but I don't search for answers
I jump hedges but I can't avoid the blunders
Failed trust, keep me company in this lonely race
Up to the very end, I didn't see our saving grace

Defining sins, keeping ourselves sane after
Do we fix this or do we leave it all to fester?
For years, we chose to pretend, to believe we are fine
Wells of emotions, of deprived, empty minds
I keep crawling, until any more, I couldn't pine
Swells of anger, duty—we're left with just the rinds
Rituals made, cases thrown against the absolute rain
Stories spin, beliefs crash—we go down the drain
We are whole but with sense, we are not
We are happy but we are lying about our gut
Because we let doubt crowd in our sacred space
Shall we stand back and wait for our saving grace?

Shifting priorities, judging every word said
Do we hide this or do we keep going ahead?
Without strings attached, will we reach the right bend?
Night escapades, visions of my love will I send
To no deserving circumstances—what has my life become?
Solitary, chained dove—it all happened to some
Have we made the perfect choice, if not the best?
I'm not sure anymore, as gone in us was the zest
Unexpected, but perhaps we have seen it coming
Beforehand, we know what's due in our awakening
And now that we've said the words we can't erase
I stood—I am done waiting for any saving grace

Shifting priorities, judging every word saidDo we hide this or do we keep going ahead?Without strings attached, will we reach the right bend?Night escapades, visions of my love will I sendTo no deserving circumstances—what has my life become?Solit...

Well, that's...sad.

I don't know where this came from but I remember writing this as a capstone piece to this collection and nothing else. I love the rhymes used, though.

How about you? What do you think of this poem? Comment below. :)
