Y/N L/N

I had no idea where I was. I had no idea who the people on the floor in front of me were.

I had no idea who I was.

I didn't know my name, age, or anything.

"Oh my god," a girl holding a hologram said. "She's – she's forgotten everything."

I looked on in horror as the girl holding the hologram walked up to me and tried to grab my arm. I shrunk away from her and nearly fell off of the table I was sitting in.

"What's – what's going on?" I asked hysterically.

"Y/n, Darling, I need you to calm down," a man with dark hair and bright blue eyes said.

"I – who are you?" I asked, swinging my legs over the table, therefore putting the table between us.

The man slowly took a step towards me with his hands raised to show he was unarmed. If what I was looking at was a metal arm, being unarmed wouldn't really matter.

"My name is Bucky," he said.

Bucky.

The name nagged at something in the back of my mind. I tried to reach it, but it wouldn't come to me. Although the name brought me a strange feeling of comfort.

"Why don't I know you?" I asked. "Why don't I know... anything?"

My breathing began to get heavier.

"Your memory was wiped," he said.

I felt dizzy, like I was going to faint.

"I – what?" I asked. "How? Why?"

"As I said before, Hydra – an evil organisation – had turned you into a Winter Soldier," Bucky said slowly. "A Winter Soldier is what Hydra calls their... assassins."

I was still confused.

"So... Hydra wiped my memories," I said slowly, "so that they could turn me into an assassin?"

Bucky nodded. He moved over to me slowly, showing me that he wasn't a threat. I let him come closer, only because it looked like he knew me the best.

"So, who are you all then?" I asked.

"We're the Avengers," Bucky said. "We protect the world and stuff. We're... we're your... family."

"By blood?" I asked.

I noticed that Bucky was still slowly walking towards me.

"No," he said. "You chose us to be your family."

I cocked my head. How did I choose them? Bucky continued moving closer to me. He walked around the table slowly and I didn't move until he stood right in front of me. I didn't let my breathing get heavy, even though my lungs felt like they needed more air, and my heart felt like it was going to thump out of my chest.

"So, you truly don't remember who any of us are?" Bucky asked.

I looked over the faces of everyone. They seemed familiar, somehow, but I had no idea why they were familiar, or how I knew them.

"They look familiar," I mumbled. "But I have no idea where from."

Bucky's lips thinned and I felt bad. He then turned to the hologram-girl.

"Shuri, can you run some tests?" Bucky asked.

The girl – Shuri – nodded and pulled up some sort of hologram. She began walking through her lab and called for Bucky and I to follow her. Bucky held his hand out to me, and after a moment of hesitation, I took it.

The second my hand touched his, I was transported from the room.

There was a man and a woman. They were dancing ballroom style. I recognised the man as Bucky, and the woman as... me.

How was that possible?

"You're stepping on my toes again," Bucky said.

He didn't sound annoyed. He sounded like he was teasing the me that was dancing with him.

"Hey, I warned you this would happen," Dancing-me said. "You still signed up for this."

Bucky chuckled and twirled Dancing-me through the air.

With a flash of light, I was back in the present.

"What was – what the hell just happened?" I asked, my eyes darting from Bucky to the other people assembled in the room.

"Shit," Bucky muttered.

"What's going on?" a handsome blonde man asked.

"She – she can't control her powers anymore," Bucky said, looking into my eyes.

"Was that – was that really me?" I asked.

I was referring to the Dancing-me in what I had just seen. Bucky nodded and I shook my head, trying not to faint. What the hell was going on?

"Does anyone have any gloves?" Bucky asked.

"Why do you need gloves?" I asked.

"They're for you," Bucky said. At my raised eyebrow, he continued, "You, uh... you can read minds. You're sensitive to skin to skin contact."

The was a moment of silence.

"Oh," I said.

There was another moment of silence.

"So, was that... a memory?" I asked.

Bucky nodded.

"No one has gloves," a woman with short red hair said. "They're all either fingerless or have holes in them."

I looked around the room. It was all too much to handle. I began walking towards what looked like an exit when a hand grabbed my arm. I looked down to the hand to see that it was metal. I looked up into Bucky's eyes.

"Where are you going?" he asked.

"I need some fresh air," I said.

"Are you saying that the air in my lab isn't fresh?" Shuri asked.

"Yes," I said simply.

My god, I felt like I was going to pass out or throw up. Or maybe both. A headache was beginning to form between my brows, and the room began to spin. I began to sway.

"What's happening to her?" I heard a female voice say.

"It's all too much for her," a male voice said.

The world started spinning faster, until everything went dark.
