Pierce was heating his car in the parking lot when he texted Elliot. When the hockey game had come to an end, he had changed out of his uniform and hid his semi-sweaty hair underneath his ugly orange hat - he had taken it back from Blake. It was Pierce Thompson at his most content.
Perhaps that was the reason he decided to contact Elliot. Maybe he was feeling bold, maybe he was glad he finally had an excuse to text him other than drama, or maybe he just wanted Elliot to know that he noticed him in the crowd - that he'd notice him anywhere.
Thanks for coming to my game
Pierce could barely hit send, but when the message finally turned blue, a response came immediately.
you didn't kiss nicki
Not a question. Pierce's heart lurched. Elliot believed him. No conditions, just trust.
No
I wouldn't do that
Not condescending, not cruel. Just honest. Pierce waited, preparing for ridicule. Elliot replied with two words.
i know
Pierce's shoulders relaxed. The invisible tension between them seemed to loosen. Pierce could breathe. He didn't feel like he had to prove himself anymore, but if he didn't have to battle for Elliot's approval, what was left? How was he supposed to be?
He reverted to what he knew best.
You know what I would do?
You
If they were in the same room, Pierce was certain Elliot would be hiding a smirk.
classy
There was his stubborn boyfriend. A curt answer. Not disclosing any emotion. Baiting, challenging. Pierce knew exactly how to win.
He was typing a paragraph, getting comfortable in the driver's seat, preparing for things to escalate. He was good at sexting - and he knew it too.
No, no. Elliot thinking Pierce had kissed Nicki wasn't their only issue. There was the Jade situation, and Elliot never wanting to settle, argument after argument. There were too many things to discuss. Sexting could wait.
Pierce didn't want to fall back into an old pattern. He wanted Elliot, all of him. Not just his body, not just his bright blue hair, not his followers or money - him, Elliot Norfolk. Completely. So he decided to try something new.
