Tom had been suffering from throat cancer for quite some time. He did not know how long he had left to live, but he knew that he could hold on and beat it.

He wanted to keep it a secret, but knew he had to tell someone just in case something bad happened. Sarah was glad phones were invented, because it got harder and harder for Tom to talk.

He released a message to all of his friends saying that he had throat cancer and that he did not know how much time he had left.

Sarah had been with him through every step of the way. She always gave him hugs if he needed them and fed him with a tube since his tongue swelled so much that he could not chew.

"Are you okay, Ice?" She asked him.

He looked down and began typing on his computer.

"I'm okay, I'm just thinking about flying..."

"I know, Ice. Your doctor says you are not safe to fly yet. I promise that you will be able to, one last time."

She tenderly took his left hand in hers, slowly rubbing her fingers along his callouses. Both of them had worked hard to become Admirals, and they are now living life very well. Of course, they could fly a plane any time they wanted.

Sage was doing well as a Commander, she had successfully made it through her mission and decided to stay at TOPGUN, just like her parents. She truly loved aviation.

"Ice! Great news! The doctor said you can fly one last time! Only for a little bit, though, and we cannot go too high," Sarah told him.

He smiled really wide and typed on his computer. "Can we go now?"

He looked so happy and Sarah melted. "Sure!"

They got into the car and drove to the naval base. Sarah talked to the commanders and explained the situation.

"Of course, anything for the Admirals." one of them said, saluting the couple.
