Puppets

I stood too tall
Too high above the ground
And now I see it all
How the world turns around

We're all just wooden puppets
With no control of our lives
And I don't know where our strings end
If I find out, I may even die

We all live the same life
Like puppets on the ground
We're all afraid to speak up
Too afraid to make a sound

Too afraid to cut our strings
Fearful of what others would think
Scared to be different
Afraid to be ourselves

I live in silent grief
When I look down where they stand
From here, no one else sees
On me, no one can depend

I don't want to come down
From my palace in the clouds
And although it is a palace
Upon my head there is no crown

But the view itself
is rewarding enough
For from the view itself
I learn so much

We're all part of a cyle
One that never ends
We all live the same life
And on this cycle we depend
For if we had no cycle
We would not know how to stand

Of course now
They still don't know
They stand on the ground
And I in my palace
Upon a cloud

They don't know I'm watching
They don't know what I see
They're too busy believing
What they want to believe

They're still to scared to look
Too afraid to see
Too frightened to even realize
They're trapped by strings

But I'm no better than they
For on this continuous cycle,
I too depend
For the cycle is my string
And I too
Am a puppet
