I look at this picture
It has become my favorite picture
I'm the only one not looking at the camera
Because I was looking at him

I'm laughing
I'm looking at him and laughing
I'm looking at him and seeing him
I'm looking at him and not seeing our past
I'm looking at him and seeing my friend
I'm looking at him and realizing I love him anew
I'm looking at him and realizing I have to leave him

I love this photograph
And I love all these people I share it with
I love this memory
And it will be nothing more than that

I want to live in this photograph
Now and forever
I want to stay in this golden moment
But I know that I cannot
For nothing gold can stay

I want to keep this memory forever
Because together we're all gold
But that's exactly why we can't stay this way
We can't stay together
Because nothing gold can stay
But I don't want to leave

I don't want to leave
I don't want to leave
I don't want to leave

These people are my family
My golden, not gilded, family
I love them so much
How could I ever leave?

When I'm with them
I can be myself
When I'm with them
I feel free
And I know where I belong
I belong in this photograph
But now I'm being forced to leave

Because my family is golden
And nothing gold can stay
