you and chishiya managed to escape from the main street the king of spades was shooting up, you dragged him into a convenience store because you were hungry
he was sat at the counter where you would usually pay, doing nothing as you grabbed a basket and looked for foods with no expiration date
“what are we doing here again?” chishiya said
“hiding, and also looking for food that won’t make me vomit”
“the king of spades can follow us anywhere, hiding won’t make a difference”
“he’s distracted right now, besides, he can’t follow us to a game arena” you said casually as you grabbed a water bottle in the storage room, along with some stale crackers
“do you think that?”
“i know it, there are certain rules to these games, if he just pops up and shoots everybody the game masters will be mad, so he’s not going to do that”
chishiya nodded as you handed him some crackers, munching on them quietly
“i understand now” chishiya spoke suddenly, you looked at him confused
“understand what?”
he turned his head to look at you, something unknown flashing through his eyes, he chuckled and looked away
“i’ll tell you later”
you chewed on your cracker confusedly, what is he on about?
you flinched when you heard gunshots hitting on windows near the store
“guess it’s time for us to play a game, huh?”
you got off of the counter and looked to the sky, seeing the jack of hearts blimp not far away
“got a game you want to play?” chishiya asked, now by your side
you nodded
“let’s go before we get killed”
there was everyone except one person there when you entered the jack of hearts, you could hear a faint sound of what sounded lie…skin slapping?
oh…right
you coughed and tried to ignore the way chishiya smirked when he heard it
you were flustered, obviously, there were people having sex right around the corner, who wouldn’t be?
he looked at you and noticed the way you acted, making him let out a chuckle
“i never thought i’d see you flustered like this, it kind of cute”
you slapped his arm “shut up, why are they even doing that here? there could’ve been kids here”
the two in question walked out afterward, leaning against a wall farther away from you two
you avoided eye contact with the two, and just then the final player walked in
banda sunato
almost as soon as he walked in, the PA system started to speak
“Difficulty, jack of hearts, game, solitary confinement, rules, guess the card suit that appears on the back of your collar however you may not look at the symbol yourselves, the time limit is one hour per round, in the final five minutes enter your cell and disclose your symbol, if you do not answer with the correct symbol, it is game over
the collar will explode and you will die, additionally when the time reaches zero, the symbol on the collar will reset and change for each round”
“wait so that means we just have to ask each other what our symbols are! thats eas, huh?” the boy in overalls next to chishiya and you spoke
“i’m not sure, they haven't told us the conditions to win yet” chishiya responded
“the solitary confinement game is about much you can trust your fellow players be ware that your opponent, the jack of hearts has already been placed among you”
you unintentionally looked towards matsuhita enji, the jack of hearts, only to find that he had been staring at you
he quickly turned around, pretending like he hadn’t just been caught staring at you
“so one of us…is the jack of hearts?” a man said
“rounds repeat every hour, you win the game when the jack of hearts dies, prohibited actions, looking at your symbol with a reflective surface is cheating, players may not use weapons or violence to kill fellow players”
“this means that the only way this game will ever end is if the jack gives the wrong answer, so basically no one is getting out alive unless they lie to the jack” chishiya said, looking to you and the boy in overalls
“there is no limit to the number of rounds, enough food has been provided, while participating in this game, no days will be removed from your visas”
“basically we either stay here for days or lie to each other until the jack of hearts is dead” you said
the game started, almost no one moved or spoke
“normally you wouldn’t wanna be stuck in a hearts game with a friend, but i guess this time you would want one” you said
everyone started separating into groups
“i have an idea!’ a girl wearing a blue patterned dress spoke “how about we get together and make teams to tell each other? so that way, nobody can lie!”
“um, would you mind if i joined up with you?” a pretty girl wearing a yellow shirt asked her (rip to this beautiful girl)
more people surrounding her asked to join
with no one paying attention, banda went downstairs, with enji following on a different staircase
the boy with the overalls looked to us and spoke “do you guys want to tell each other our suits?”
“if you’re trying to survive, i would examine all the people here a little more carefully, make sure you keep the ones who don’t lie close, for all you know, i could be the jack” he looked at chishiya with a scared face
“you seem they all started breaking off into groups, everyone wants to know whos trustworthy and whos not” chishiya looked around, eyes stopping at the man and woman who were previously together in the cells “those two, before the game started, you wanna know what they were doing? the guy wants to control everything she does to exert power over her so she doesn’t interact with the other players, which is smart, in the long run, if you’ve got someone you can trust that much, thats how you can win”
you placed your hand on the boys shoulder “stick with us, we don’t lie to each other, well, most of the time” chishiya gave you a look at that
“its true” you shrugged
aramaki urumi, the girl in the blue dress, stalked over to you three and made eye contact with you “do you wanna join our team? no pressure or anything”
you looked towards chishiya and the other guy (does he have a name i swear they did not say it once) chishiya nodded at you and you assumed the other wouldn’t mind
“sure, why not?”
she smiled at you and walked away
“okay, im gonna first!” urumi said, turning around and moving her hair out of the way of the collar
“oh! urumi yours is a heart!” the pretty girl with the yellow top told her and everyone agreed, hers was a heart aswell, the next was a spade and then it was your turn
you moved your hair out of the way so they could see it clearly, it was diamond
the time came where you had to get in the cells
everybody got their first one right, you were a little bit terrified but no one lies in the first round
“that was so easy!” urumi laughed as she walked out of her cell
