Maverick struggles to help his brother and his dad who is struggling to cope with his mothers death so they move from London to Hawkins for a fresh start
Little did they know this was not some ordin...
(Mavericks nickname is Eric, Ricky and others that will come up later he is 10 here and Leo just turned 2)
End of The Year 1982
Maverick was sitting in the car with his younger brother Leo as their dad drove down into the town of Hawkins.
Matthew had a cigarette in his mouth and bottles of alcohol in the seat beside him. No he wasn't drunk, he swore to himself he would never do that. Not to Julie.
The car smelt of cigarettes and Maverick just kept his focus on Leo making sure he was okay and safe
"Maverick, I wanna go bed" Leo spoke softly. Through the corner of his eye Maverick saw his dad look through his front mirror he sighed and lifted up Leo into his lap
"I know buddy come here we're almost at the house it's not that far away now" Maverick spoke quietly ignoring his dads stares
Leo laid his head on Mavericks chest pulling his knees into his small body.
Not long after he fell asleep.

A few hours had passed and Matthew and Maverick sat in silence. The only noise heard was the car coming to a stop in-front of their new home.
Matthew removed his hands from the wheel and closed his eyes "I'm trying, you know?" He said to Son.
"Yeah I know"
Maverick looked down at Leo to see he was sound asleep on his chest before he opened the door and carried Leo to the house.
As he opened the door he saw that the house was a bit smaller than their old one and had more of a wooden theme.
With Leo in one hand and some bags in the other Eric walked upstairs to the bedrooms where Leo's bed had already been set up
It was a little blue race car themed room almost exactly how it was at there old house

Leo was now awake as he looked around the room with his stuffed animal in his hand
"Cool" he stated raising his hands in the air excitedly
Maverick laughed "yeah cool." He placed Leo down and began to unpack the boys toys for him to play with
Leo was now preoccupied and Eric set off to his own room that had just a bedside table, a bed and a plain white mattress.One wall was a dark blue the others were plain white.
He took off his backpack and pulled a small picture and placed it on his bedside table. He stared down at it a small smile on his face.
Several memories were replaying in his head until his Dad interrupted his thoughts
"Maverick, go say hello to the neighbours" his dad yelled from the floor below
"What about Leo?" He questioned not really wanting to leave him with their dad
"Sure uhh, take him with you" His dad replied, he already sounded tipsy and Eric did not want to be one to stick around and witness it
He quickly grabbed Leo and left the house to next door
He presses the doorbell and waited patiently with Leo holding his hand
As the door opened. A curly haired blonde opened the door and next to her was a boy who looked around Maverick's age
"Hi we're the new neighbours that live next door. I'm Maverick and this is my brother Leo." Eric stated
"Oh hello! My name is Karen, Karen Wheeler. We haven't got new neighbours is such a long time" Mrs. Wheeler states as she goes to shake their hands
Leo shuffles back a little hiding behind Mavericks leg
"Come on buddy it's ok" Eric said slowly pulling Leo from behind him.
Leo shook the women's hand smiling a bit "I'm Leo"
"Well hi their Leo, I'm Karen" Mrs.Wheeler responded with a smile on her face
"I'll let you boys talk, if you need anything just ask, ok?" Karen spoke before leaving them alone
"Hi I'm Mike" said the young boy at the door
"Hi Mike, it's a pleasure meeting you"
"Your not from around here are you?" He asked Eric
"Oh no actually we just came from England, figured we needed a fresh start" Eric explained
"Cool, so do you like Dungeons and Dragons?" Mike asked hesitantly they needed another member in their party the start their campaign,
"I've never played, but I'm open to trying it." Eric said hopeful of making a new friend
"Hey, maybe I could teach you and then you could see if you like it"
"Can my brother come with?" He asked Mike looked down at the little boy
Leo was busy play fighting his stuffed animal to acknowledge the boys talking
"I don't see why not"
"Nice let's go. Cool walkie but the way" Eric told Mike
"What's a walkie?" He asked
"A walkie talkie?" Eric elaborated
"Whats a walkie talkie?" Mike asked
"That" Leo said pointing to the supercomme in Mikes hand
"See even my brother knows what it is?" Maverick spoke laughing
"Ha ha, well in America we call it a supercomme" Mike explained
Maverick looked at Mike in confusion "why the hell would you call it a supercomme?"
"Don't worry, I'll catch you up. British boy" Mike said leading the boys to the basement to learn dnd
