"You positive that was dart?" Lucas asked Dustin
"Yes. He had the same yellow pattern on his butt" Dustin replied clearly now annoyed by the questioning.
"He was tiny two days ago" Max added on.
"Yeah well molted three more times since then" Eric said agitated.
The boys leg had started to ooze out blood as he limped onwards
"Yeah and he ate mews" Steve said nonchalantly
"Who's mews" Max asked
"Dustins cat" Steve replied clearly oblivious to what was going on.
Then it all connected. "You kept him didn't you" Lucas asked frustrated
"No!,no" "I- I- he missed me, he wanted to come home!" Dustin said stuttering
"Oh cut the Bullshit" Eric said offended that Dustin lied to them
"I didn't know he was a demegorgan okay!" Dustin spoke back defensively
Dustin, Eric and Lucas started arguing more and more then Max interfered "guys who cares we have to go"
"I care! You put the party in jeopardy!" Lucas snapped. "You broke the rule of law."
"Oh please, Lucas you told a stranger the truth!" Dustin yelled.
"I'm not some stranger!" Max snapped.
"Dude we had to tell her !" Lucas yelled.
"You both broke the rule of law, so you're even." said Maverick weakly
"But we're still not even! You're pet almost ate us for dinner." Lucas said however before it could escalate it was stopped by Steve.
"Guys!" he yelled, the group fell silent, causing them to hear the creatures in the distance.
Steve began to follow the sound and Eric, Lucas and Dustin followed him.
"No, no, no." Max said in attempt to stop them. "Hey, guys, why are you headed towards the sound? Hello?"
As the group got closer to the top of the hill they were on, the sound had gotten quieter, the group stood at the edge so they could get a better view of the area, but no sign of the Demogorgons.
"I don't see them." said Dustin, Maverick put his binoculars up to his eyes and began to scan the area until he spotted a building, suddenly a flashback of all the incidents that occurred last year flooded him mind
"It's the lab." Eric felt like hid heart had just stopped, he had never thought he'd be this close again. "They were going back home."
Eric could now barely walk his leg had gotten so bad due to his loss of blood
Steve helped the boy walked also worried for him as Eric had done it to save him
"Who's there?" came an unknown voice, nobody answered and they just continued walking towards them, to the group's surprise they were met by Nancy and Jonathan.
"Steve?" the two of them asked in unison.
"Nancy?" Steve questioned.
"Jonathan." greeted Dustin.
"What are you doing here?" Nancy asked.
"What are you doing here?" Steve asked her.
"Eric! Are you okay? What happened??" Nancy questioned rushing to the boy who she viewed as family. She looked in his eyes and saw how weak he was however he still managed to pull a smile for Nancy
"Hey Nance" he said
"I'm surviving" he responded
"Have you seen Mike or Will?" Jonathan asked.
"No. They're not in there, are they?" Dustin asked.
"We don't know." responded Nancy.
"Why?" Jonathan questioned, the growling that came from the lab answered his question quickly, the lights inside the lab blinked on and off and Jonathan became worried that his brother could be in there.
"We can't have shit in this town" Eric wheezed leaning onto Steve and Max
The group then began to argue about who'd seen Mike and Will last and why they could be in there.
Eric had had enough of standing and proceeded to slowly sit down careful not to injure his leg more.
He sat against a tree everyone now off on there own conversations. He searched the group for Max and found her talking with Lucas. They were both smiling and blushing and they looked really happy
Something in Eric's chest hurt as he saw Max blush at Lucas contact. He looked longingly at max yet his face was full of disappointment
Nancy turned to look at the boy and saw the saddened expression on his face she followed the direction of his eyes and saw he was staring at Max
She looked at Max and saw how close her and Lucas looked and she felt bad for her younger brother
She walked over to the boy and sat down next to him
"If it's meant to happen, it will. Don't dwell on it Ricky" she said laying her head on his shoulder
They had given up spamming the button and just waited until a sudden sound went off
"Hey! The power's back." Max said, the group then immediately sprinted to the front gate to try and open them up.
Jonathan ran into the security booth and began pressing the open button, the gate did not open even after Jonathan had clicked it as much as he could.
"Let me try." Dustin ordered.
"Hang on-"
"Let me try, Jonathan!" Dustin yelled, shoving Jonathan out of the way, Dustin did the same thing that Jonathan had done and still no luck. "Son of a bitch! You know what..."
"Maybe if I try-" Dustin began clicking the open button as much as he could, but this time the gate actually opened. "I got it!" he grinned.
"You five, stay here." Nancy ordered. Nancy and Jonathan both got into Jonathan's car and drove through the gate.
"Not as if I can actually go anywhere" Eric muttered to himself
The four kids stood around while Steve messed around with his lighter, minutes after the waiting was put to a stop when two cars came around the corner, the kids stood in the middle of the road until the car honked at them, the group moved to the side of the road so the cars could get past.
The second car stopped at the group of five, inside was Jim Hopper. "Let's go." he said as the kids got in the back of the car before driving away from the lab
