After dinner Daniel walked in with a cake with birthday candles on it, just like they did with Hugo's birthday. They really see me as an equel.

When Daniel got closer I see there is a text "Happy Birthday Maya!" with a lot of candles.

"I know it's a little boring but this was the best we could get on such short notice, princesa." Daniel says with an apologetic smile.

When Daniel puts it in front of me he leans down so I whisper "It's perfect" to him so only he can hear. He turns towards me and gives me the biggest smile.

I made him happy, that makes me happy.

"Go on, mi amore. Blow out the candles, make a wish." dad says while everyone is looking at me. This is the first time I have birthday candles to blow out.

Mom and my step-father never remembered my birthday, and when they did, they always said it's just another normal day without something to celebrate.

Taking a deep breath, I blow out the candles and make a wish, hoping the universe will make it come true.

The next morning was a whirlwind, when I got downstairs there were so many people already awake, I almost backed up and went back to my room.

The grandparents and aunts were already downstairs, even a few of the olders kids were sitting in the kitchen when I entered.

The only people I didn't see were dad and Daniel, the two who are always awake when I get downstairs. Freaking out a little because I don't see them I hear someone say "Good mornin sweetie. Sleep well?" When I look around I see it was aunt Manuela talking.

I give her a little smile and nod my head. "Good to hear nieta. Do you need anything or are you joining us?" Grandma asks, I put up one finger, hoping they know what it means.

The next to talk is one of my cousins, I think it is Pedro but I am not a hundred percent sure "What do you need? Are you looking for someone?" I nod my head at him, "Álvaro?" another nod. "I think he was in the home office with Daniel."

I put up my thumb and walk towards the office, knocking on the door and waiting for the 'come in' to enter.

"Hey there princesa. Everything okay?" Daniel asks. "Yeah, just a lot of people out there." I answer, they both look a little shocked, this is the first time I have talked to someone when it's not just one-on-one.

"Good to hear that, mi amore. I know there are a lot of people but most of them will be gone by tonight after the game." Most of them? Wait, I thought all of them would be gone after the game.

Sensing my confusion dad answers my unasked question "Santiago was kicked out of the house yesterday and Manuela and the boys didn't want to go with him." I broke up their family? No, that's not nice, I'm the reason the boys won't get to talk to their dad anymore.

Before I can spiral any further dad talks again "Mi amore, there were already problems between Santiago and Manuela. She was going to leave him soon. It's not your fault, okay."
