Aaron's POV (Edited)

I always loved to play chess. It really boost up my mind. Chess is not everyone's cup of tea. It needs pounds of focus, will and determination. Your target should be your sole focus of sight. You should be aware of their next moves.

I always prefer to play chess than other sports. I refered to chess because I yield on focus. If I wasn't paying attention to my company, my company would be in ashes today. Subtly ignoring that one time when my uncle thought to destroy it by believing the fantasy that he might be CEO of it one day.

James Atkinson and his delusionality will lead him in great trouble one day.

I was sipping through my cup of coffee. I was right now in my penthouse. I usually stayed here but most of the days, I stayed at my father's house. Of course, I can't leave my father's legacy to two adults who can't even like once.

So, I stayed there for four of the week days and then came the three days that are the most peaceful days of my life. My solidarity. My own comfort zone. My safe place. My hiding. My house. I didn't always like alone-ness.

But after my father's tragic death, everything changed. That was a canon event. It brought a lot of changes in me. I can't recognize the man I was when dad was alive. It's like him and me are two different personalities whole. Don't know if I should take it positively or negatively.

The ring to my penthouse's door buzzed. I sighed before standing up. I walked towards the door and punched the code in. The door buzzed again before opening. My best friend, Christian's face came into my view.

He was standing there in his usual crisp navy blue suit with a permanent scowl on his face. If having such a seriousness would be a job, he would be trillionaire right now. Now that he's far away from it.

I just quietly walked back to my couch. He followed me inside. Silencing clouding the room. We both were sitting against each other. He opened his coat's button before making himself comfortable. I passed him a glass of drink but he shook his head and replied

"I need to drive back home. Driver's not with me."

I immediately asked

"But didn't your driver usually stayed with you until you go home."

His reply to my question was short and clipped

"He was driving Alana back home."

Ok, after his clipped response, I didn't probe further. We both again went into my a comfortable silence. After a little while, he asked

"So, how's the company going?"

His basic question made me laugh. Christian was away on a one week business trip. So, that's why he doesn't know what happened here.

At my laugh, his eyebrows furrowed and he started dryly

"I didn't think I crack a joke."

I shook my head and said

"Well, so much happened in your absence."

He scoffed before leaning back on the couch and muttered

"Good for me because I am free."

I sighed before putting the cup on the table. I also leaned back and started narrating

"So, it all started..."
