I threw my controller down in frustration as I lost yet again in the video game we were playing. Sitting on the couch next to me, DD chuckled, clearly enjoying my misery.

"Man, you really suck at this game," he teased, nudging me in the side with his elbow.

I rolled my eyes and shoved him back. "Nigga, You're not that much better than me."

As we argued back and forth, I couldn't help but think about the situation with Riri. DD and Riri had never gotten along, even though Riri was actually a nice person. But they were like oil and water, constantly bickering and arguing whenever they were around each other.

I took a deep breath, mustering up the courage to ask DD about it. "Ma heart..what's the deal with you and Riri? Why do you guys hate each other so much?"

DD's face hardened a bit, "Man, I dunno. We just don't click, I guess. Plus, she's always getting on my nerves with her attitude."

I nodded, understanding his point of view. Riri could be a bit snarky at times, but I knew that deep down she had a good heart. Still, the tension between her and DD was palpable whenever they were in the same room.

I hesitated for a moment before deciding to bring up the incident that had happened the last time we hung out with our little group. "Hey, do you remember that one time when you and Riri got caught cuddling in her bedroom, then when we went to the roller rink you and her were holding hands on the rink floor?"

DD's eyes widened in surprise, and then he burst out laughing. "ma heart, we were just messing around with eachother."

As we continued to play the video game, I couldn't shake the feeling that there was more to the story than DD was letting on. I decided to push a little further. "So, do you actually hate Riri, or is there something else going on here?"

DD looked at me, his expression serious. "Nah, man. I don't hate her. Yeah, we butt heads a lot, but I don't actually hate her. She's just...different, you know?"

different, you know?"

4pm - harlem, ny

It was a typical Friday afternoon when I decided to swing by my best friend Riri's house. We had plans to hang out, grab some snacks, and just chill like we always do. Riri was sitting on her bed, scrolling through her phone, when I walked in.

"What's good, Riri?" I asked, flopping down next to her.

Riri glanced up from her phone. "Just chillin', you know how it is. What's up with you?"

I hesitated for a moment before deciding to bring up the topic that had been on my mind for a while now. "Hey, Riri, what's the deal with you and DD?"

Riri's expression instantly hardened at the mention of DD's name. "Man, don't even get me started on that nigga. DD is straight-up trouble, always causing drama wherever he goes." I nodded in understanding. DD was known around our neighbourhood as a troublemaker, always causing chaos.

"Yeah, I get what you mean. But you know what's even weirder?" I added, a mischievous grin spreading across my face. "Remember that time when we caught you in the bed cuddling and when we went to the roller rink you guys were holding hands?"

Riri's eyes widened in shock, and she quickly tried to play it off. "Man, that was just a one-time thing. It meant nothing, I swear."

I raised an eyebrow. "Come on, Riri. You can't deny that there's something going on between you two?"

Riri let out a frustrated sigh, running a hand through her hair. "Look, it's complicated, okay? DD and I... we just don't get along. But for some reason, whenever we're alone, things just... happen. It's like we're drawn to each other, even though we despise each other."

I couldn't help but be intrigued by Riri's confession. It was clear that there was a lot more to the story than she was letting on. "So what now? Are you just gonna keep pretending like nothing happened between you two?"

Riri shrugged, avoiding my gaze. "I don't know, man. All I know is that DD and I have a complicated relationship, and I'm not sure what to do about it."
